Way To Go PC World. You have truely pulled out all the stops on this machine. Heck you even loaded it with Office AND some really good games plus the full load of Adobe. I agree with the previous poster, It is hard not to drool. Someone is truely going to get "A Dream Machine". coastie65

What sort of questions will canadien residents be asked if they win.

100 hours to build and troubleshoot?? Seems a little extreme. It couldn't have been that hard? Of course when I build a computer it doesn't have 6 hard drives, HDDVD/BLURAY drives and a ton of useless stuff..but still damn sweet computer.

Lame, it doesn't cost anywhere near that much. Where, for instance, is the 2nd Video card in SLI?
Why do you need 4 300GB HDD's at 15.5K, but then need 2 120 GB SSDs? Why not just drop it down to 10K, and then get 4 TB drives? There's no point to adding SSDs if you're going to have HDD's in there.
Why is it running Vista Ultimate? XP is faster. Where is the Physics card? Why is it running DDR2?
Basically this computer isn't all that good, it's overpriced and

Wow, that's a heck of a Dream PC...!! I thought they said it was going to cost $10,000? It looks like they even surpassed that by adding a whole bunch more cool stuff... and more money too... you guys are right, it's hard not to drool.

hmmm, i agree, where is the 2nd graphics card? (i thought the GT is better than the ultra) & y only 24in screens, could be bigger (30in x 2??)...that's obviously vista 64bit right? otherwise that 4th gig of ram is a waste. maybe ddr3??

ssd is ok, run vista on with low access times. drives for multimedia. are the 15K's noisy? still wouldn't seeing how fast those are going to be.

ja, physics card would be cool, not extremely neccessary tho.

i think they charging so much labour for the crane they hired for that beast.

ne'ways my 2cents...don't even qualify :D

Oh yes, it is very hard not to drool at this PC.
I want it, oh how much I want it.
Ahaha. PCWorld, you have outdone yourselves.
I'm curious as to why you didn't include the other stuff, such as SLI.
And yes...way too many hard drives. You could've gotten those Hitachi 1 TB drives...unless you had something else in mind that we're not seeing?

Stangmar, per the official rules, "In order to win a Prize, residents of Canada may be required to answer correctly a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered via telephone."

I think if you read the fine print for Windows Vista, you will see that this just barely meets the system requirements for reasonable operation.

If that system just meets "bare requirements" to run Vi$ta, that is all the more reason to ditch Vi$ta and stay with a proven XP. coastie65

This is a fun contest! However... I think it'd be more fun to have a $30K Tiger Direct gift card and go on a shopping spree of my own! Hee!!! ;)

To call this PC a dream machine is an understatement! Honestly, who builds a $30,000 PC?! I'll tell you who: PC World!!! This could possibly be the godliest PC in the world...I may make a call to Guiness... :D

Hi PC101, Yeah, then one of requirements would probably be to write a report " What I did with my gift card". :^0 coastie65

Hey Coast!
Sheesh... for a 30K rig... I'd write that essay with my toes! LOL ;)

We had a "Build your Dream Machine " contest over on PC101, one rig was $21K. That was 2006. B-)

What about water cooling???

Why not give us two 30" ones???? Or what about the Alienware one they showed at CES?

What about using two quad-core Xeons instead like Apple does?

And what about throwing in a Zune 80 and a wireless n router to go along with the dream computer?

Awsome BUT..

- it costs over twice what we paid for our new car in 2004, and uses more juice than our furnace (1600 watts just for the power supply)
- can you really afford to add $30 Grand to this year's taxes ??

OH OH OH - NO TAX in Canada - so Please..

If you don't like the components of this computer, don't enter the contest.

If I'm lucky enough to win, I'll be more than happy to accept it. It's a heck of a lot better than what I have now. LOL
