You must have missed bandit's post. As I thought those things will read Both HD and Blue Ray as well as write to Blue Ray. I wasn't really sure until Bandit posted. coastie65

Hi drbasic, Someone else looked up as well and came up with the same thing, so it must be so. I tried to look it up, but I guess I need to work on my search techniques, as I came up short. coastie65

We're intending the best of everything for this system, which of course includes support for both HD DVD and Blu-Ray. Components might change a bit--we've had to rethink the power supply because the Enermax is too long for this particular case--but it's still going to be top-shelf wherever possible.

Cheers, Jon B-)

Who is going to have the money to pay the federal, and state income taxes, and the state sales taxes on this power hungry machine? Potentially these taxes could cost as much as $7500.00.

Now that Toshiba has dropped the HD DVD format don't you think a "Blue-Ray" DVD Reader/Burner would be indicated?

Per the rules...

" The winner is solely responsible for the reporting and payment of any federal, state, provincial, local, and other taxes, fees, customs, duties, insurance, or other amounts owed on the Prize (or any component thereof) or any other liabilities incurred in connection with the Giveaway (other than standard fees associated with shipping the Prize to the winner's address, for which Sponsor will be responsible). For purposes of compliance with tax regulations, the winner must provide his or her Social Security number or taxpayer identification number to claim the Prize. Only the winner will need to provide this information."

Thanks for the info, but I can't find in the rules how long the winner has to respond to the PCW notification. If I'm notified on the 2nd and I can't respond until the 11th, will a new winner be selected in the meantime? Thanks again for the response.

Hi rdrawdy,

You will have two weeks from the time of notification. If notification is made on April 2nd, you will have until April 16th to respond and confirm your desire to claim the prize. I hope that helps! Have a great vacation. (Are you going anywhere fun?)

I'll be in Costa Rica! Far, far from work and chores and other worries. Which includes access to the internet and e-mail. Wish you could come! :-)

I think the Graphics card should be replaced. The 8800 Ultra is fast, but the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 pwns it in Crysis and Fear benchmarks. Not only that, but even though it has 2 GPUs on one card you can still crossfire it with another card for a total of 4 GPUs. The better Asus cards come with 1gig of DDR3 .8ns from Hynex ( 512 per GPU) that can be overclocked to over 2100MHz.

The HD 3870 X2 is the fastest card on the market, and has defenitely earned it's place in anyone's dream machine.

X-( my-my-my, how we try and dictate the components on a system we don't even own nor will (most likely) never own.use some MANNERS & don't complain on what they have or will put in this FREE PC. my god friends, its a FREE PC. accept it or tell them NO! do not try and tell them how to build it.
