Hey matt, So far that is the world's biggest, and most highly classified secret. coastie65
In otherwords, they could tell you, but then they would have to kill you! ;)
If I re-engage my serious mode for moment or two, they have not revealed the winner yet. They are still processing the paperwork and such. I am guessing that the will let us know soon.

To add onto what SMax mentioned, here is the official word from Kellie, the Community Manager as of April 11, 2008:
"I just didn't want to announce the winner until all the paperwork was signed, received and processed. We're doing an article on the winner in the upcoming weeks."

Sorry, I forgot to come back and update the thread. The winner was Bill Gibson of Alaska. To my knowledge, he never posted in this thread. I know that an article was in the works on him, and what he plans to do with the computer. I don't know if it's been published yet or not.
The Dream PC has been all packed up and sent. Here's what it looked like as it all sat, boxed up in my office, waiting for the mail room to come get it.

Congratulations are certainly in order for sure.
That should give him plenty to occupy his time with, on those looonnnggg Alaskan Winters. Just having all that stuff coming through the door, would be pretty intimidating to say the least. With all those boxes, the recycle guy would probably have a coronary. Kellie, it must have been fun sharing your office with that monster. At least you probably didn't have to worry about lingering guests when you were trying to get some work done. :D coastie

On the other side of that desk thingy. :) But yeah, nobody could sit on the opposite side of my desk for a day or so. No room to pull out the chairs!
I honestly didn't think there would be that many either, but there's the machine itself, the printer, the speakers, and 3 monitors, and the battery backup all in their own boxes. The rest is software and other parts.
I've asked him to start a blog here on his experiences with it, but I don't know if he will or not.

I sit on the other side of the desk. I guess it's hard to describe in words, but I have a U shaped desk (more like three sides of a rectangle, but you get the point). The space you are seeing is between the right side of the U and the wall/doorway to the hall outside. So I sit on the other side of that curved part of desk there... to the left of that.
But, as I said, nobody could sit down at my desk but me for a couple days, because there was no room to pull out a chair. It also looked like this in the beginning, as we were gathering the parts for the Dream PC.
So basically, my office has looked like a warehouse for about 5 months.
I don't know what the final shipping cost is, because the mail room took care of that. I imagine that it was a lot though -- there were about 15-20 boxes, some fairly heavy, all insured.

HI,
I'm Bill Gibson the winner of the Dream PC, I have to say it was quite a shock when I foundout that I had won.
I have the PC now and all the boxes all over my tv room, it's going to be a while before it's setup, I need to redo my computer room a bit..
If anyone is interested in the future of the Dream PC just say so And I will figure out how to setup one of these Blog deals, This is my first post ever to a Blog.
Anyway a great big thanks to All the Folks at PC World for all of this great stuff.
Bill G.
