On the first if this month I replaced my HD and reinstalled windows, then I installed security software and let it do the updates and hotfixes, that's when the problem started, one of the programs Super AntiSpyware was not running and it was not in the Add/Remove Programs list so I tried to reinstall it, that's when I got the error, so I went to MSFT and updated the msi.exe to 3.1 and followed the guide to install it, then I used the run cmd to use services.msi and started the service and put it on auto and tried to reinstall the app, same results, changed it to manual and tried again, no difference,so I know it's from the updates and hotfixes, but this is getting irratating

Hello again, well I started at 9:30 last night and by 1A.M. XP was up and operating again, no hang ups and I made sure the updates were off in all the users profiles and right now life is wonderful, tool me the rest of today to install all the other programs I use but everything works great, logged in and saw the forums will be closed for a while on the 30th for a Jive update, hats off to the tech dept, hope that it's quick and painless and the load speed improves afterwards, this will be the last post in the thread but it's a good one, all's well, thanks for all the help and I've got steam up and running so I'm downloading some demo games, happy, happy, happy

Hi GoneFishing. I am glad to see that your situation has been resolved. Normally, in such a recent installation, it is best to just start over and reinstall again. Now, if you got the same error message after the second installation, that would be an issue.
