To answer your question: it's all random. I thought about following the last letter of the previous post (like the Movie thread,) but after a while it becomes kind of limited, because you get the same letter more often than others. So, I thought random would have less restrictions, and since there's an infinite variety of Music you can post about, people can be more creative.
