When will people get it through their heads there is nothing good about microsoft buying anything. A giant corporation harboring the wealthiest people in the world will not do things out of the goodness of its heart, it has none.

Microsoft buying Yahoo! is good. Both companies will be able to compete, making Google have to fight. Corperate fights always benifit the consumer. ALWAYS!

Arghh. I am so tired of all this anti-Microsoft crap! Microsoft is a business and like any business they won't stay afloat if people if people don't but thier products. Bottom line if you don't like Microsoft or anyother company then don't but their products, PERIOD!

Probably after this Yahoo has to migrate all their applications & codes to comply with Microsoft platform. What a BS! I think Google should work with Apple. So what the heck if I'm anti-Microsoft?!

Well, that will almost certainly put an end to the iPhone coming to Canada.
Rogers(the only GSM provider in Canada)has a significant tie-in with Yahoo in regards to their internet strategy (both for wireless and for their unrelated home/business ISP)- and even if you disregard the 2 enormous egos at work (Jobs and Rogers) that has hitherto prevented the iPhone from being released here, the likelihood that Apple will be thrilled with having a direct tie-in to a Microsoft-provided internet service seems, uh...remote.

MS will probably fill Yahoo full of Active X making it useless for us FireFox users.

I hope this won't happen,as I would have to give up my Yahoo email address of 10 years.I shudder to think what Micro$oft would change.I quit using Hotmail long ago, thanks to Redmond's constant restrictions .
As a recovering Windows addict(now a LINUX user),I've seen Micro$oft's pathetic attempts to control and rule all.
Hey Redmond! I OWN my Computer.I decide what I can do with it,not you.

That wouldn't be such a bad thing you know ;)

Yahoo has this horrible tendency to put spam at the bottom of your emails (payed subscription or not). You're much better off switching over to a better service such as Gmail. You have ads in the interface, but not in the email itself. Also, my yahoo accounts can't touch my Gmail accounts when it comes to spam filters and storage (currently 3.5 GiB of storage).

Not all mergers of giants are bad. Look at Exxon-Mobile. They are making money hand over fist.

I do hope Yahoo shareholders come to their senses, and that the USA gov. play fare, so we see a new internet beast come to life.

Well I don't see the big deal bout it companies do this all the time . And just maybe they will fix the Yahoo messenger cause they sure can't fix it can't even get a simple fix on it to add your own display image . And if Microsoft did buy out Yahoo they got a long road ahead of them to catch up to Google .
