Hello...I am looking for a good, free firewall. I know that Zone Alarm is usually recommended, but I can't use it, it has a conflict with a program that I regularly use (BCDC). I have been using filseclab, but it's interface tends to hang every so often. Any other good recommendations? thx in advance

One of the best free firewalls I've tried was Zonealarm from Zonelabs. It is also an excellent training tool when you first start it up as it will notify you of every program that needs access to the internet and and you even get to see which programs run within each and even which web sites want to send info back to your unit. It is a true two way (duplex) firewall and you will learn alot about your OS and the programs you run that need internet access.

I would not recommend anything from PC Tools! I've had nothing but problems and can't get help or my money back.
PC tools have always developed quality and different from other products . I recommended PC tools firewall, as it is a free application.
One of their products PC tools spyware doctor was one of the best anti-spywares in the past and it was there until they upgraded it to version 4.0. It would eat loads of cpu cycles in startup and lock up slower systems. Same was the problem with ver 5.0 . Most of the people had similar problems with the new versions of spyware doctor and thus the product has received a lot of criticism. But some other applications(other than spyware doc) from them are still very good .

I 100% reccomend comodo firewall. It is the best firewall, not just the best free one. It is better than Zone Alarm Pro, better than PC Tools firewall, better than Sunbelt Firewall. If you look at firewall leak tests, comodo seems to pass all of them, Zone Alarm is just at the borderline, and PC Tools firewall and Sunbelt are very poor. Try out comodo, it is 100% free and there is no harm in trying.
