I would like to make some of the classes dormant. This would allow me to keep the information for future reference.

So, the question is - How do you make the classes dormant?

Hi Nester. I have changed your Discussion title to give a clearer indication of your question. For future reference, please be as descriptive as possible in both the heading of your Discussion as well as the post itself.

Now, this is a very application specific question. Have you contacted the vendor of Quicken, Intuit? Here is a link to Intuit's Community Forum. Their forum may have some relevant information for you.

I have contacted Intuit. The response from them was to "delete the class".

Doing that will erase all of the information, and throw the accounting into

a complete mess. I do not want to lose the information, even though some

of it is two years old. The projects are completed; however, the financial

data must be kept for tax purposes for a period of years. Hope this explains

my desire to put the (projects) classes into a dormant state.

Absolutely, that makes perfect sense. Since I do not personally use Quicken, I will step aside and let one of our forum mates, who uses Quicken, to help you on this situation.

For those that are interested - Quicken Home & Business 2008

solves the problem. The "Class" has been renamed "Tag" and

you are now allowed to "Hide" various listings without your

information being erased.

Hi Nester and thank you for sharing that information. I hope the upgrade did not cost you anything but I am sure other people will appreciate this news.
