I moved all the programs that were on one drive, called the f: drive, to another, the c: drive. I would like to edit the registry for the moved programs so that all reference to F: are changed to C:. There are over 800 such changes to be made. is there a method or program to edit the registry by doing a "find and replace"?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Norton WinDoctor used to do that for me. I believe that it is still available. You should, at least be able to find a 2006 version, if not stand alone, then as part of Norton Utilities or Norton System Works. Ebay is a good place to find that sort of thing. You may even find a standalone by googling "Windoctor 2006".

Iolo technologies system mechanic pro has a feature that allows you to change locations of installe dprograms. It changes registry keys, all file folders, links etc automatically. But i would rather prefer uninstallation and then re-installation . Dont use any such program that only edits the registry based on find next feature.

Hi LJPlatt and welcome to PCWorld. :-)
I second the notion that eBay is a good place to buy all types of things. I buy all of my office supplies from sellers on eBay and save money over retail, even online retail. However, you have to be very careful when placing an auction. Once you bid on an item, if you win, you are legally liable to pay for that item. This Document gives you some safe buying tips for online auctions such as eBay.

WinDoctor is not an Editor as such and does not employ "find and replace". If it finds a value pointing to the wrong location, it searches your drive and finds where the program is actually installed. Sometimes it finds more than one choice, but presents all choices in a detailed list that you can go through and make your choices, but if called upon, it will make best guesses and automatically make all of the changes.
Whichever method you use, it is , of course advisable to back up your registry using ERUNT, or better yet, create an image with Acronis True Image or Ghost.. System Restore won't do you much good if you can't even boot into Safe Mode.
