Hello again,
this is another problem i am having with vista which is worse than the update issue im haveing. My computer crashes ALOT!! and it is really quite frustrating, especially when im doing my coursework. It either goes to the blue screen of death or crashes when playing on COD4 and doesnt go to the blue screen of death. But the blue screen of death is the problem as i did manage to get the little messagey code thing which comes up,
"STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000A, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8CA4BF41)"
the reason that this is a problem is because i typed this in on google and apparently nothing exists with that code. either im really dopey and wrote down the wrong code (which i think is the problem), or no one else in the world has this problem. does n e one have any idea what this could be?

The best way to resolve this is to take it one step at a time.
Please post the computer specifications - CPU, memory, brand of board, or if a manufactured machine, the brand and full model number. If this is a manufactured machine there should be a sticker on top, side or rear showing three numbers. The specific model, the prod no or series number and a serial number. Never ever post the serial number.
Does this occur with routine work or just when playing games?
Does it occur when the machine is idle?

Hi Snoopios. In addition to what has already been suggested, here is a Knowledge Base Article from Microsoft in relation to this Stop Error message.
If this article directly relates to your issue. Please follow the steps and post the results.

When researching STOP Message "codes", only do the part PRIOR to the parenthesis; in your current "Situation", that means "0x000000D1", which you would find relates to "DriverIRQLNOTLESSOREQUAL". Very cryptic I know . The Info within the parenthesis is the SPECIFIC location of the problem, which ONLY Microsoft employees and possibly Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals know . GENERALLY SPEAKING, the STOP Message Error Info section on the Forums at http://aumha.net/] , which is staffed by many Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals, says :
"0x000000D1: DRIVERIRQLNOTLESSOR_EQUAL
(Click to consult the online [Win XP Resource Kit article.)
The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile. "
Underneath this Info is 7 "Listings", which include the One MPH quoted .
