Hi Bob530 and welcome to PCWorld. :-)
The Discussion to which you have posted your concern is in relation to the news article. In situations like yours, when you have a problem with your computer, it is best to start your own Discussion. I have branched your issue into its own Discussion.

Vista Digital Rights Management ('DRM') decided that your video card, sound card and/or blue-ray player isn't 'secure enough', so it is blocking the content as it was programmed to do.
You can try a different driver, but it probably won't help. You can try playing through analog audio and video channels (if they exist) on your computer. If the video output doesn't have 'Macrovision', it won't play through that, either, in case you have a crappy VCR attached.
More likely, you'll either need to buy a new audio and video card (and hope they don't get 'revoked' later), or downgrade to XP or run another OS, like Linux where they thought it through and decided DRM is for fascists.
Basically, Vista will capture or playback high definition video of that sort for pretty much NOBODY. Few (if any yet) cards are 'certified' by Microsoft to securely handle it, so Vista disables the 'excess features'. They also require an 'encrypted' audio, HDMI or DVI for digital output, so if your stereo, monitor or TV doesn't support that (virtually none do), it won't play.
Vista also plays back the analog channels at degraded quality, also designed to prevent copying your Blue Ray Disk.
It protects it so well, you can't even see it.
This lengthy article explains it in greater detail.
