Its the biggest ATA HD you can get!!
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750GB ATA100 7200RPM 16MB Cache
I have a big box of DVD CDs that have Movies, TV shows & music videos on them, loaded them all onto the HD, with about 100GB to spare.
I am defraging now, its gonna take a while......
It cost me about 200 bucks.
If you want one there are only a few left, if they dont have any in stock they say more are on the way.

Wow, Snorg, congratulations on your new HD. Are you sure you're gonna have enough space left over for more movies, CDs, etc...? ;)

Hi Adama

Yup there should be a little left over when I get done.
There are 2000 files on it so far.
I have more movies to edit and put on DVD, but not allot of them, then I put them on HD.

When I built that PC I knew nothing about sata.
I found the box the MB came in, in a bag there is 1 sata data cable & 1 sata power cable.
But I havnt found the manual.
So, does does that mean I can fill it up with ATA drives & add a sata drive as Well?
If I get one sata drive does it matter which sata slot I use on the MB?

well ya , u can use sata with ide drives on the same mobo in their respective slots. Just get the jumpers correctly in case u want to use sata as boot device.

But now u have got the drive, just enjoy your movies but it will be helpful for any future purchase.

Ok, sounds good.
Will XP Home SP2 pick up the sata drive & basically the same routine as ATA to initialize, mount & partition it???

Do I want a sata, or a sata2, or will either work?

i cant confirm for XP home. I have done it in XP pro and vista ultimate. But i guess it will also do in XP home. Someone else may confirm this. And yes similar procedure for disk management as for IDE.

Already looking for a new hard drive? I thought you'd be happy with the 750GB ;).

I'm pretty content with my two 40 gig IDE hard drives, but all jokes aside, sata are great, but you won't need one until you've filled up your 750GB.

Ok guys, I'm going to ask a really silly question: What's a SATA and an ATA? And, what's the difference between them?

Oooops, I guess that's 2 silly questions. ?:|
