After doing a search on this error code, there does not seem to be a definitive resolution. However, I did find one possible suggestion. Please review this Forum Discussion:

It details your exact situation. Other than what you may have already tried, I do have one more suggestion. Download, install, and run the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility. This utility requires Windows XP Validation.

Ran the utility and everything checks out.Its not all that important, but it frustrates the hell out of me.LOL. It will play files that other peops send me but won't play my own.If i remember correctly:i think it happened when i had to download a codec to play an avi file that some1 emailed me.Don't know for sure.

LOL I bet. It would frustrate me as well. As a last suggestion, Coastie eluded to the statement you made regarding a previous codec you installed. Since you are not sure what that exact codec is or when you installed it, I would check your Add/Remove Utility and check to see if you can determine what the codec is and uninstall it.
Don't give up quite yet. I am sure there are others individuals who may have suggestions that I could not provide.

Well, if you are lucky, it will reference something about a codec. However, in lue of that, I would carefully look at each installed program and try to eliminate each one. Things like Microsoft (whatever) or Intel (whatever) are obviously not it.
Also, open the Program Files folder and sort by Modified. This will put the folders in the order in which each application was installed. Think back to the approximate date any look for any folder that was installed around that date. This will narrow down your search.

dont you remember the exact name of the codec you had installed earlier ? Installing unknown codecs isnt a good practice. And one more thing - these codecs related problems are not that easy to understand simply coz there isnt much you can do with it. Uninstall all codecs, update wmp, reinstall codecs. If this is not working , then its a bit difficult after that to figure out the exact problem.
One of my friends camera videos play fine in my pc in wmp11, but not in his pc, even when we have same os edition, same player, same codec pack and its still like that.

When i download a video from my camera...if there was a way of downloading a video in Windows.wmv format.
Okay, let's get a bit of clarification here. I know this is just a question of semantics but when you say "download" you are referring to when you connect your camera to your computer and upload your video from the camera, correct? If that is the case, what you may want is to find an application that will convert the .mov files to another format, such as .wmv like you mentioned.
There are plenty of applications that will do this. A quick search on Google pulled up two immediately:
ImTOO MOV Converter $39
MOV Converter Free
I have never used either of these applications so I cannot attest to their quality.

Just wanted to make sure. Big difference between uploading and downloading. :D Anyway, check out the converters and see if this is what you need. Google some more and see if there may be another application that fits your needs if the two I suggested do not quite work for you.
