Speaking of registry cleaning, download Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and add this to your arsenal of security applications. Before you run the application, make sure you set the option to create a System Restore point before any registry repair. I would run this at least once in both normal and Safe Modes.

I know that this sounds stupid but, do you think that I can still be able to install AVG Free Editon (Anti Virus) on the computer? I know that the computer says that Mcafee is still on there, but I ran the uninstaller and it should be gone. I've got nothing to lose

That is not stupid. If you ran all three scans in both normal and Safe Modes, restart the computer and attempt to install AVG Anti-Virus. If it does not take, use the Registry Cleaner to clean the registry, again, in both the normal and Safe Modes. Once that is complete, attempt to install AVG Anti-Virus again.

Whenever you do get AVG Anti-Virus installed, run scans in both the normal and Safe Modes.

Okay, run Eusing Free Registry Cleaner in both modes and tell us what happens.

:D Hi :

There is malware that can ONLY be picked up by "speciality" programs like ComboFix, VundoFix .

Regardless of how well the computer seems to be running, you should reformat/reinstall the

Operating System.

Plz be sure about one thing, how did you tried to uninstall mcafee in the first attempt. Did you delete any file/folders on the installation manually or did u proceed with normal add/remove and after that the removal tool ?

Sorry for late reply. Bad weather over here. Power just went off
I just used the add or remove programs feature in the control panel. Then I deleted the remaining mcafee folders. I then used the uninstall tool. The Registry Cleaner is giveing me 313 problems found. Now i'm going to run it in safe mode.

I believe you have expended every other option at your disposal. A reinstall is in order at this point. My last questions to you are:

- What is the model number and manufacturer of this computer?

- Do you have the installation CD that may have come with this computer when purchased?

The manufactur is dell, and it is a inspiron E1505. I am currently in process of getting his install CD from him. To reformat an reinstall teh OS all I got to do is restart, set bios to boot from cd, boot from Install CD. And select reinstall right?

dont need to say that . :-) 20 mins isnt late either. Sometimes it can take days to sort things out , it once took me a week to fix one of my media player errors, but i did at last. lol :-)

You will be safe in MPH's hand with the reinstallation progress.

Yes, that is the extent of it. Once you get the CD, follow the steps you just stated and you should be okay. Let us know if you have any hurdles along the way.
