Hello, i have question again :)
Anyone knows how to prevent changing of icon when associating file to a program? Some program has ugly icons and when associated with files, the files also changed into the same ugly icon. But i still want to use that program regardless of the ugly icon. Any help here?

Hi CocoCokie. You can associate any icon you want with any file type you want. You can even create your own icon. This is a two part solution 1) create the custom icon of your choice and 2) associate the icon with the file type of your choice.
After doing a quick scan of the icons within my system, it appears that the majority of icons are 16x16 in size. You can use an application similar to Icon Works Pro to create the custom icon. I stress similar because I have never used this application and can only attest to its ability to do what you want, not its quality. I would advise saving the custom icons to one specific folder for easy access.
Once you create the custom icons, you can associate them to any file type of your choice:
- Open Windows Explorer (Right Click on My Computer and select Open
- Click on Tools and select Folder Options
- Click on the File Types tab
- Once the list populates, scroll down to the file type of your choice and select it
- Once selected, click on the Advanced button in the lower right hand section of the window
- Click on the Change Icon... button in the upper right hand corner of the new window
- This third window will give you the available icon choices. Click on Browse... in the upper right hand corner of the window to choose your custom icon
- Once you have chosen your icon, click Apply and/or OK to close all windows. You will not have to restart the computer because the change should be instant; however, you may want to close and then reopen Windows Explorer.
