my computer windows xp wont recognize my sd card i put it into reader and nothing comes up it says please insert disk but the memory card is in the reader

Is this a new card?
Or is it an existing card that you have used before with this computer? If so, did you unmount it properly the last time used it (i.e. did not just yank it out without first unmounting/ejecting it)? Have you always unmounted/ejected it properly?

hi thanks for reply this is a card ive used before on this computer ive used it for my daughters nintendo ds ,ive always used the safely remove hardware process to remove from computer when i put the card in the reader it shows removable disk on my pc but when i click to open it says please insert disk,the reader is fine because ive used it with another sd card,its just wierd how it wont recognize it !! regards

Have you tried it with another computer?

Trying it with another computer will tell us if it appears to be a problem with the card or not. If it does not work on another computer, then the card might be toast...they do go bad on occasion. If it does work on another computer, then that tells us it might have some sort of problem with your computer...that is usually a sign that it was not properly removed from the computer, but you said that you always use the Remove Hardware method, which means it should be fine.
