Some good news for gaming enthusiasts. Assassins creed from ubisoft was earlier out for xbox,ps3 , the pc version release date is 8 april (unless it gets postponed). I m looking forward to buy this one. Anyone else planning to do the same. Its an action-adventure game. Trailers and reviews look good. Has anyone played this on xbox or ps3 ?

The recommended requirements are something like:(not official)
* Supported OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista only
* Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel® Pentium® D or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800 (Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400 or better recommended)
* RAM: 1 GB Windows Xp / 2 GB Windows Vista
* 256 MB DirectX® 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
* Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)

Actually I've got that site bookmarked, and unfortunately I'm sure it wont run ;( . The duel core processor clinched it. I'm running an old AMD socket A rig, so a duel core processor isn't even an option with out the hard and expensive process of upgrading the motherboard but I was think of upgrading form the Athlon XP 2800 I've got now to an Athlon XP 3200.

action games normally have a bit higher requirements.

But will upgrading the cpu by that amount be worth doing it ?

Well my rig's five years old , and still has the original processor and it's bound to go someday. The Athlon XP 3200+ is the fastest for socket A, so I figure it's not a bad upgrade.

Hi piyush, All I'm sure of at this point is the trailers will run on this thing and run well at that. The game looks real good. I am concerned about the controls onthe PC though. I have Lara Croft: Anniversary on the PS2. I downloaded the PC demo of the game, and the mouse was awkward compared to the joystick. Other than that it should prove to be a good game. While I was watching the trailers it sort of had the same feel as The Witcher. coastie65

oh yes the controls are a bit difficult in such type of games. Similar were tomb raider and prince of persia . I havent played prince of persia but i am a die hard fan of tomb raider. I have been playing tomb raider since their first game came . Though tomb raider aniversary actually wasnt worth, tomb raider legend (which came a year before aniversary ) was a great great game with similar controls, similar game engine. So i am very much comfortable with such controls. Plus i have a mx518 mouse which makes it a lot easier .

But the assassins creed wont be having any demo version for PC, i am a bit confused regarding the performance. I m sure it should run smoothly as the specs are well above the recommended but still.

Hi piyush, I guess I got enough for it, I can run Crysis OK. I need to get a new mouse. I got this Microsoft wired optical thing and the pointer jumps off the screen at the worst possible times and is aggravating to say the least. My mechanical mouse got worn out. It was the one that came with an eMachines I bought in 2004 and when my sister's friend got the computer I gave him the new mouse that came with this one. coastie65

And this game is also available through steam sweeet!!!. I do notice it requires a dual core processor to run it. Thats what the quads are for. Ever since i built my rig . I am getting performance much much more than i expected which = gaming goodness. and even more surprising i am able to play crysis at high settings with 4xAA at 1280x1024 and yet i hardly notice any lag. The 2 additional cores really do help anyways happy PC Gaming :D

Antec Nine Hundred case

Q6600 quad core 2.4ghz (OC up to 3.5ghz per core 1562Mhz FSB or front side bus at 390x9 EXT CLK 1.37 VTT Voltage/1.3750 core Voltage. And using a Zalman aircooling to keep this insane OC quad CPU Cool, especially when under some serious gaming :D )

8GB of ram DDR2 G.skill memory rated at 1ghz but actual rated speed is 932 ddr2 (PCDDR2-8000)

Windows XP Pro SP2 32bit (soon will have a dual boot setup with XP/Vista with the following setups: XP Pro 32Bit Vista 64bit premium or Ultimate)

ATI 3870 512 GDDR4 (GPU: 777mhz but OC up to 862 Mem 1126 But OC up to 1226)

950 watt power supply from rosewill

Abit QuadGT MB with Intel X38 Northbridge chipset (supports dual video cards for CF both at 16X too)
ICH9 Southbridge chipset

2 Samsung 750GB drive 32MB buffer that are in Raid0 for better response

Cut off the middle man and this is the results.

nice specs there. Assassins creed will surely run at high on that.

crysis high on those specs isnt that good. I mean you should run at very high. The very high settings for crysis will be available only on vista with dx10. Make sure you play crysis on vista when you get a dual boot.

Hi piyush, Yeah, they are good specs. He should have no trouble cranking the game settings up and playing it. I can play Crysis, on this puny thing with the settings on high, although I do turn off anti aliasing. coastie65

hey coastie. 8600gt isnt a puny thing. You can play and enjoy what you want , thats what is needed. Its much much better than your earlier card , 8400 i guess :-)

I took mine 9 months ago , at that time it was among the top of the stack . Considering the geforce 9 series now, it may look inferior. But till now i havent seen any game that isnt playing well with 8600gt.

And the reviews of people who have played this one on 8600 are good - high with multi-processing on 1. Some gameplay videos on youtube with 8600gt were looking good. I think it should max out with 8600 at 1280X1024. aa-2x. just guessing lol. We ll see when we play it. :-)

Hi piyush, I ran The Witcher at 1280x1024, to see what it looked like and it did real well. I haven't tried that setting with the Crysis demo though, i just kept it at 1024x768. As for puny, I was refering to the overall rig itself. LOL. coastie65

If you are planning to buy it , then get it soon . Its a good one.

This one is the opening movie of the game. It shows one of the nine assasinations that are to be done by Altair (main character).

This one is the gameplay video of Altair getting to a viewpoint.

I ll grab some intense fight vidoes later.

Hey piyush, I think I did see the first one. That second one though was something else. I HATE HIGH PLACES. There was some high plces in Lara Croft: Anniversary that game me the willies. The graphics are fantastic in Assassin's Creed, but that seems to be the norm with Ubisoft. I'm just wondering about the game controls on the PC. Itried the PC Demo version of Anniversary, and was not real happy with it. I must prefered the PS2 version as far as the game controls went. coastie

hi coastie. There are tons of high place in this game and altair has to scale all those high viewpoints to reveal the map and tasks. But that isnt much problem here as he is so good at climbing and normally doesnt fall from those places unless you do some deliberate jumping or some guard starts firing at you.
regarding controls - I have, at this time done 2 assassinations out of 9 in all in the game. The controlling is so smooth , it is much better than tomb raider. Earlier i also thought about controls , but that is definitely no problem in this game.
