I have recently purchased a laptop. I honestly did NOT research Vista before I bought the computer. For the most part Vista really doesn't give me any problems. I have, however, found that iTunes is NOT compatible with Vista. Do any of you computer Guru's know any work arounds? I would like to slowly phase out my desktop as it is very old and make the laptop my main computer. Thank you in advance for all your help!

Hi TheKitty and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D
I adjusted your Discussion title for you. That being said, I am not sure why you feel iTunes is not compatible with Vista. According to this site, http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ iTunes is definitely compatible with Vista. What problems are you having?

Thank you for adjusting my title. When I originally downloaded itunes on the laptop and started adding my cd's all was fine. I did not put too many songs in at that time. About a week or two later, I went to itunes to add more cd's and my computer was not reading the disk drive. After a couple hours of frustration, I called HP helpdesk, since I've only had the computer less than a month. The tech told me that itunes is not compatible with Vista and uninstall itunes and all will be fine. I did uninstall itunes and have not had a problem with my disk drive since. From your question, you haven't had any problems with itunes?

I do not use iTunes because I do not have an iPod. My response was simply stating that iTunes is compatible with Vista. For all technicians, I apologize that the HP technician gave you such a bad piece of information. This is one reason why I thank God everyday that I can troubleshoot my own computer issues.
The fact that your optical drive (CD Drive) was not reading the discs could have been a factor for anything. If you feel like you want to use iTunes, reinstall and see if you have the same issues.

The HP tech is a little behind the times. There was a point where iTunes was incompatible with Vista, but that is no longer the case. The HP tech misinformed you. iTunes works just fine with Vista.
