Hi Ken and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D

Normally, we ask members not to latch onto existing Discussions; however, since the original poster never responded, let's continue. What is the exact error message that you see? Please include the header as well.

Following is what the error message says:

Just-In-Time Debugging

An exception 'Runtime Error' has occurred in Script. However, no debuggers are registered that can debug this exception. Unable to JIT debug.

What do I need to do to get rid of this message? kenbh

I have some additional questions for you:

- What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

- Have you tried any other browser?

- How long has this error message been occurring?

- What application did you install that correlates to the onset of this issue?

- What security applications do you have and what were the results of the latest scans?

I am using IE 7

tried firefox. I don't think the web browser is the problem but I'm not sure.

This has been going on for 6 months

I don't know what application was installed to cause this. Just In Time Debugging is part of Microsoft & it could have been something downloaded from them.

I am using F-Secure security & the last scan didn't show any errors.

Hi Ken. I branched your issue into its own Discussion because this is turning out to be much more than just a "how to" situation.

Yes, Just-in-Time is part of the Microsoft family; however, there is some application that you have that is causing this script error. Since you do not know what applications you installed around the same time this started, can you please either list all the applications you have installed in your computer or provide a screen shot of the Add/Remove Programs Utility?

Going back six months is kind of pointless so System Restore is out. Another browser may work when you try to surf the web but you noted that this error message occurs when you start your computer and when you start Outlook as well. I did notice a reference to Office 2003 in a Knowledge Base Article from Microsoft. If you have Office 2003, I would start there; uninstall and then reinstall this application to see if this rectifies your problem.

I still haven't got my problem solved yet. Microsoft web page said to go to IIS Management Console (MMC). I can't figure out how to get into this. I still need some help. Thanks kenbh

Here is a WikiDocument detailing how to get screen shots uploaded from Desktop computers:

{document:id=1144}

Here is a WikiDocument detailing how to get screen shots uploaded from Laptop computers:

{document:id=1481}

Depending on how many applications you have installed, you may need to take multiple screen shots.

:D Hi Ken :

"Copying and pasting" is a lot easier than taking & posting Screen Shots; IF you know how

to do this, I recommend you download a program called "HijackThis", which is most easily

downloaded from www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis . After it has been

successfully "Installed", click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button, then click on the

"Open Uninstall Manager" button . A "List" of all your programs should appear !? If true,

copy, then "paste" that List into your next post here .

Hi Ken. Okay, we can go through and suggest that you uninstall various applications until we are blue in the face. However, I have three (3) suggestions of things you can try before we start investigating more applications:

- Within Internet Explorer, under Tools -> Internet Option -> Advanced tab -> Make sure that the following options have a check mark next to them:

# Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)
# Disable script debugging (Other)

Make sure that the following option Does Not have a check mark next to it:

# Display a notification about every script error

- If you currently do not have another User Account loaded within your computer, create a Test User Account and then restart your computer within that Test User Account and then see if you get the same issue. I would suggest using this Test User Account for at least a full day and use every application that you normally get the script error to see if this narrows down the issue to your current User Account.

- If the previous two options fail, you may want to investigate a repair to Windows. There are several ways to repair Windows. The option you choose depends heavily on your comfort level within Windows. Please review this WikiDocument for further information. {document:id=1648}

Can you be more specific? The two remaining options were to create a test account and to attempt to repair Windows:

- What happened when you tried both of these options?

- Did the test User Account produce the same error message?

- Did any specific messages come up when you attempted the repair option?

Please provide more information so we can continue to troubleshoot this situation.
