Can any one recommend a fps game that can be played on vista? I have been playing the serious sam games for years and am looking for something compatible to that. A game that can be played in first or third person view in where you can use the arrow keys to move forward, backward & sideway's & the mouse to fire with. i don't want to play online just single play. hi [~103355]

windows experience index in vista will tell you more about your system specifications. You didnt mention what type of graphics card is available on the machine. Either give the full specs or just click on the windows experience index in the window you just posted (just right to your 3.0 rating) and post the ratings there. Then we can tell what the system will run smoothly.

ok..., graphics arent that good for your system. No way it can run crysis. I would say go for call of duty 4 . It should run fine (not at high though). Check out this link . here you can check whether your system will be able to run the game and to what extent. Their list features almost all new games. So just have a look and see what it says for call of duty 4 on your system.

cod4 is till date the best fps i have ever played . The game has excellent AI, graphics , storyline . A must buy for every FPS lover. !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

what did the system requirements lab scanner tell about running call of duty 4 on your PC. Did it pass the test ?

You can try it to test other games also , and see what will run properly under your specs if you dont want to upgrade .

COD4 did not pass, said i needed GForce 6600 or ATI Radeon9800 pro+ but recommended GForce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon x1800 or better. I know very little about video card's so i guess i will have to check the prices on those. Think i should stay with NVIDIA or is ATI better? I think i will try doom3 or halo combat evolved but i don't know if third person is available on those games.

Doom3 and Halo: Combat Evolve are both great games. You have Vista so you might want to give Halo2 a try. You'll definitely want to upgrade your video card though.
