What is the procedure for downloading a Java Applet and getting it to work in a Dreamweaver Web Site.

I am visited several Web sites and downloaded various Java Applets. I am struggling to get them to work. Could someone enlighten me with the correct procedure once the applet has been downloaded to my site.

I use Dreamweaver, OS Microsoft Professional XP.
