What's up with this forum's inconsistent line space formatting?

That is, in every posting I've done, the line spacing has been not been as I've intended (for reasons of clarity). For instance, if I hit the "enter" key, a new paragraph should be started. The line shouldn't appear in the same paragraph.

Or sometimes huge spaces between paragraphs appear when all I wanted was to skip a single space.

Hi Klaatu. Please note that the General Talk Community is not for technical questions. It is intended to be a place for PC World members to share and discuss off-topic items, and just generally have fun. For further guidelines, please refer to this Discussion. I have moved this Discussion into the PCWorld Website Community.

Are you using the ritch text option when posting? Try using the plain text option. No more hassle!

Hi Techie. This is not a Rich Text version Plain Text issue. I have seen the same issues while using Plain Text. To be very honest, it is what it is. I have come to accept some of the quirks of the new forum or adapt to others. As for formatting, if the formatting is not quite right after the post is submitted, simply go back and edit it.

Hi Klaatu. I one suggestion I have for you is to use the Preview tab before you hit Post Message. This will show you exactly how the formatting will look before you submit the post.

It is a little ironic that one of the most problematic forums that I've ever experienced is run by PC World, a computer magazine which, one would think, would know how to resolve such problems.

LOL Hi McBarker. :D

You are absolutely right. The way I see it, if this is the biggest issue of my day, I am doing pretty good. :-) I can think of much bigger things to worry about besides the formatting of the forum but, you are right, it is very ironic and, at times, very annoying.

I know Bill, the PCWorld Community Technician and Kellie, the PCWorld Community Manager, are working very hard to keep this forum running as best as they can.

Well, to be fair, it's not that we can't (or don't know how) to resolve problems such as inconsistent spacing. If it was a tool we wrote ourselves, it would be a lot easier. But this is someone else's software that we are using, so we just can't go in and fix everything.

I've spoken with the makers of the software, and they admit that the rich text editor is "really buggy". We will be upgrading to the 2.0 version of the software soon (in a few weeks), which I'm told will address a lot of the rich text editor bugs. It will also have some cool new features in it that I think you all will like. Stay tuned!

i agree with techie. the rich text editor causes large gaps and spaces . I hope this gets sorted after the upgrade.
