Hi, I would appreciate any help you might offer in removing "RogueAntiSpyware.SpywareBot" from my computer.

I was attemting to download a MMA video when I got infected. I tried Spyware Doctor, SpyBot, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal and all did not work. I keep getting a popup window stating that I have a serious virus and I should click on the "OK" to get rid of it. When I looked up the spyware it noted RogueAntiSpyware.SpywareBot is a rogue anti-spyware application that detects Windows and other legimate programs as infecyted files and asks the user to purchase the product before cleaning the machine.

Thanks, Ric

Posted Image Hi Ric :

I recommmend you try the FREE "RogueRemover", available from

www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php . IF that fails to resolve your problem,

I recommend the FREE Version of "SUPERAntiSpyware" from

IF you are willing to PAY for One of the best antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN programs, I

recommend "CounterSpy" from Sunbelt Software, not "Spyware Doctor" .

Thanks for the assist. Spyware Doctor did the trick and got rid of the troublesome program. They have a free 15 day service and I am planning on buying the program after that to protect my computer.

I did come across another problem while trying to get rid of the bad software. For some unknown reason my monitor's picture shifted 90 degrees to the left. I have a wide angle 22" monitor which is not in a vertical position so I can view the data on the screen. I right clicked on the screen and worked my way into the screen alignment window however when I tell the screen to rotate 90 or 270 degrees nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?

Thanks again,

Ric

Hi Ric and welcome to PCWorld Community.

Your second question about the monitor picture should be posted in the Hardware Forum. That way it won't get buried in this thread and more people would be able to see it, and respond to it accordingly.
