What do you recommend for a virus protection software?

The reason I'm asking about Trend Micro if because before when I had Mcafee and Norton....(supposidly excellent virus protection software)....I decided to try AVG FREE edition and it discovered some viruses that mcafee and norton didn't detect...

I do NOT recommend any Trend Micro product ; Best recommendations are made when

the SPECIFIC Name of your Operating System is known, which you have not told us .

Best to have ONLY One antiVIRUS program, supplemented by 1 or more

antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program(s) . There are very good FREE programs available,

such as Avast Antivirus Home Edition, which has 7 "Providers/Shields" and EXCELLENT

Support Forums; start with the Info at www.avast.com/eng/avast-free-home-antivirus-antispyware.html .

For an "Independent" antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program, I recommend the FREE Ver

of "SUPERAntiSpyware" from [http://www.superantispyware.com] .

Best to use a software firewall ; however, the recommendations for that depends on

knowing the SPECIFIC Name of your Operating System .

I was a long time Trend user. Then it got bloated and buggy. I switched to following FREE tools that are quite good:

- Comodo firewall

- AVG free

- Spybot

-Ad aware free

If both Avast and Trend Micro antivirus software were both free, I would pick Avast.

I've never good things about Trend, on the other hand I've had Kaspersky for about a year now and have never had a problem. One tip for Kaspersky though leave it in non-interactive mode other wise it'll be a pain.
