I recently began using an online file virus/spyware scanner called http://www.virustotal.com/. On many files all the other programs (eg Symantec, Avast, etc) show NO spyware or viruses, but this software service "Prevx" is the lone one showing the file has some malware.

That seems fishy to me - liek a false positive or the company trying to promote their paid products. Does anyone have any experience with Prevx's products? Thanks

Hey jimy!!

Yes , Prevx is a Heuristic type scanner, meaning that it will look

for files that "behave" like malware. This could be a false positive.

Have you run a HijackThis and then up-loaded the log to VirusTotal

to see if the results are the same.

You can download the HijackThis exe. from this site HijackThis

Run the HijackThis app. in the "Do a system scan and save a log file"

This will be the resulting scan and a similar log will be saved to your

Documents and Settings or to the folder that you save your downloads.

this is what will HijackThis show:

Now PLZ. do not attempt to "Fix" anything.

Simply up-load the log file to VirusTotal and let them tell you if you have to investigate further.
