I am using a LaCie porsche and a couple of the pins in the connecter broke and the drive is useless. I have stuff on there I'd like to keep. The power supply is a Jentec jta0202y. The trouble is the jentec is almost impossible to find and very expensive. My question is are there any alternates out there that I can use with it safely? Does anyone know what they are and where I can get them?

Hi Jimmy. Let's make sure we are on the same page. I believe you have a laptop so do you mean a Power Supply or a Power Adapter? If you are looking for a Power Adapter, you can pretty much find a universal Power Adapter at any computer retailer. I would bring in the broken adapter to match the universal adapter.

Hi to you mph,

Thanks again for helping me out. My pc is a desktop. My LaCie Porsche is a 250GB external hardrive. I surely hope a universal poer supply adapter will help. I was moving my pc a few days ago and the wires got snagged ans as I said a couple of the pins snapped on the connector. I am going online now to see if i can find a compliant adapter. The old one was a Jentec JAT0202Y switching power supply adapter. Thanks again for you helpfulness. I labeled your message as the correct answer.

I would presume that you can find the adapter at a location such as Radio Shack; however, if there are no Radio Shacks where you are located, you should be able to find the adapter at any retailer. Unfortunately, depending on the specific connection, you may not have too many options but they should be available.

Hi again mph,

When I saw the picture I started to drool. That's it exactly. For some reason I never gave a thought to radioshack. As a matter of fact I am going to a mall that does have radio shack as well as bestbuy. I one doesn't the other will. Thanks for giving a ray of sunshine today!
