HELLO!
I recently purchased a Photo Editing program: Serif PHOTO PLUS 10. While I was installing it, I didn't check the Associations bullets because I didn't know what it would do to my Windows Picture folder. I have Vista Home Premium, BTW.
So my questions to you are:
1 - Have you used Serif Photo Plus 10?
2 - Do you know what ASSOCIATIONS are?
3 - And, are Associations of any importance to using the program successfully?

hello adama
1) no i haven't used this serif thing
2) associations - the default program for opening a particular file format.
3) they are important for quick, easy running and opening of files.
Associations can be set very easily in vista and in a much better way than any other OS. Its a good thing that you didn't set any associations during install . Normally whenever you install a program it tries to take all associations for every format it is capable of opening but that is not desirable. Its better to assign them later according to need.
The open with item in context menu item will always be there even if a file format association is broken.

Hi Piyush!
Thank you so much for your reply.
To tell you the truth when the PhotoPlus 10 install prompt asked me to choose which Associations to select, I had no idea what they were talking about and that's the reason why I didn't select any. But I had a feeling that they would take over my computer, ?:| so to speak.
That's what happened to me a couple of months ago when I purchased a digital camera that came bundled with Corel Paint Shop Pro X2, it just took over my picture folders, etc. I've been trying my hand at making avatars and sigs and whenever I wanted to work on an animated GIT, resize it, etc., I would get a message saying that only the first pic would be seen and I would lose the rest of the pics. I even lost the ability to view the animated GIF altogether!
Needles to say, I uninstalled the PSP X2. Good thing too, because I ended up having to return the camera. Ever since then I had been looking for another Photo Editing program. And Photoshop is very expensive.
So that's how PhotoPlus 10 came into my life. I like the program really well, so far. I'm just learning how to use the brush tips, effects, layers, etc., etc. and I'm just having fun with it.
But I'm just rambling on... :^0 Thanks again, Piyush!

OMG, you have Photoshop CS3 and you don't use it? You crack me up, Kid. LOL
There are lots of tutorials on the web that can take you, step by step, from point A to point Z. But you do have to put the effort to learn it, though.
You should give Serif PhotoPlus 10 a try, it's waaaaay easier than Photoshop.

Sorry Im not familiar with the program Adama.
If your looking for other free photo editing programs you can check out gimpor infranview. Gimp is linux's answer to photoshop so its more complex. Infranview is easier to use.

Hi Aurora,
I wasn't familiar with PhotoPlus either, but remember unclew? he made the avatar for me that changed into my name? He's the one who suggested it to me a long time ago, but I kept the idea on the back burner for a long time.
Well, I finally went to their website, I was going to download their PP 6 which is absolutely free. But then I was poking around there and realized that the PP8 was a little better, had more options, plus support, and it only cost $9.99 to download! So I went for it.
I made a couple of error on the installation (my errors, mind you) and contacted customer support. We went back and forth for a couple of weeks. Then they told me one day that they were sending me PhotoPlus 10 (which is better, newer and has a bunch more options than the other ones.) So of course I said THANK YOU VERY MUCH and YES! to that. :^0 LOL
AND the amazing thing is: OMG, IT CAME WITH INSTRUCTION BOOKS! So, I'm studying them, following them to "a T" and I'm having a really fun time with it! And it turns out that it's compatible with Photoshop and with Paint Shop Pro too!
I just had this thing about the Associations, and hopefully I'll get all my questions answered pretty soon.
TTYL, Auro!
