Not hibernating after windows update

My Toshiba cannot hibernate or standby after a windows XP update. The only solution seems to be a system restore. What may be the cause?

What update was it ?
And do you get any error or something when you try to hibernate.

I'm guessing SP3. My Dell laptop did the same thing... Desktop hibernates fine though.

so how did you solve your problem ? that might help this guy , if the update done here is also SP3.
