The original iPhones were the 4GB and the 8GB, not the 16GB. The 16GB didn't come out until Feb, a mere two days after I bought my first 8GB. Trust me, I would remember that.

Since you brought up "waiting for 32Gb memory"...How important is memory?
I'm trying to decide on the new 8Gb vs the $00 for the 16Gb.
How would this be affected by the off-line storage of the new "Mobile Me"?
Any ideas?

For someone like me who has 75BG of music on my Mac, 8GB just ain't cutting it. I can't imagine how many songs, videos or pics I would be removing just to load all of the nifty iPhone applications that will be available in July. At a minimum the 16GB is the way to go, at least for me, especially if you like experimenting with different apps, constantly changing things and just loading a lot of stuff on your phone. The 8BG feels a bit cramped. Digital real estate is expensive though.

Hmmm, I'm still not ready to run out and trade in my Blackberry 8320 Curve just yet.

I agree with you that it is better to wait for the next iPhone. I also prefer a bigger memory like 32GB or 64GB for my MP3 music.
I also wanted 5MP camera and built-in stereo FM tuner. Currently, I am looking at the new Nokia N96 which is better than iPhone as far as these features are concerned.

reelfan is right. The original iPhones were $499 and $599 for the 4GB and 8GB respectively.

Still not a compelling reason to get an iphone with other cellphone companies coming out with 3.5g, hsdpa, wifi which is free in a lot of places and a few cellphones which are wimax capable. Besides iphone seem to be more loyal to telecom companies instead of their costumers, i wonder who really buy and use their phones. You paid for it but you don't really own it. It's like you gave them money to give you permission just to hold it. As for the 4,8,16 32gb of memory why would you use your phones' battery to be an mp3/video player rather than making and receiving important calls or checking mails. Sure they are eye candies but i don't buy cell phones based on aesthetics alone.

Why do I keep seeing these clueless articles about the iPhone "price drop"?! They raised the data service by $10/mo on a required two year contract, so the service cost has gone up by $240. You can buy an iPhone today for under $300. So the new iPhone is MORE EXPENSIVE by well over $100.
I'd love to have a device like this, but $70 a month for service is just too much (given my means, anyway).

5 reasons NOT to buy an iphone:
1) It's made by APPLE
2) It says APPLE on it
3) STEVE JOBS
4) You're not a mindless sheep (or are you?)
5) You don't like being ripped off

That new nVidia phone looks sweet, and it makes the iPhone, even with 2 new features, look like a paperweight

Unless you use the phone on a daily you won't understand. It's night and day compared to what is out there. I recently got a new blackberry for work and I can't stand using it's archaic plastic keys or "features" (or lack thereof) after having an iPhone. I type 10 times better with the new phone...hell I don't even know I make mistakes with an iPhone. It has amazing precision. Also I find myself spending at least an hour or so a day using features other than the phone side...surfing craigslist, online shopping, checking email, watching my apple stock climb, texting my family, listening to music, snapping photos of my pets, making quick 3-way calls with friends, etc. All the while I leave my brand new blackberry alone on the table or in the car. I cannot wait until my company of 180K EEs start supporting it. Heck, I will pay for the phone out of my own pocket just to be able to get away from the blackberry. Given that the several executives have iPhones, it's just a matter of time. I did hear the IT department is in testing so that's very promising.

1 year ago, I had a Dell (my 3rd Dell) and switched to Macbook Pro. Best decision I ever made regarding tech hardware and a platform. The iPhone is the best phone I have used as well (I've used HTC touch and blackberry and every imaginable flip phone concoction Samsung had). I continue to be sold on what is going on in Cupertino. It doesn't even bother me that I spent $400 4 months ago on a phone and I'm going to spend another $200 plus the extra $10 per month come July. It's worth it and that's a lot coming from someone who bargain shops on craigslist.

5 reasons:
1. Extremely intuitive
2. It's a handheld portal into a world of rich, endless entertainment and information.
3. It fits everyday life so well.
4. Excellent "new" price
5. Apple makes it all about me. Apple is the only one who gets that.

Reason #1 is simply false for US customers, because the 3G iPhone is more expensive. An iPhone is useless without the AT&T service contract, and AT&T raised the price of the data plan for the 3G iPhone. When you include the total cost of ownership over the two year minimum contract, it turns out that the 3G iPhone costs $40 more than the previous iPhone. If you keep it beyond the minimum two year contract then the price gap widens by $10 per month. The press is being fooled by this, and reporting it as a price decrease when in fact it's a price increase.

Are there any rumors about the 32gb? Any idea of when we should be expecting it? I have over 16gb on my iTunes and I find it quite annoying to have to make seperate playlists and choose which shows I want to carry on it.

Has everyone forgot that the Treo750 on AT&T already has a touchscreen, WindowsMobile 6.0, 3G access, Win MediaPlayer, MsOffice Mobile 6,and full access to Microsoft Exchange E-mail and other POP accounts. The Centro by comparison w/the Treo is like a Hyundai vs Mercedes. The only thing better on the iPhone is the 16gb memory. Also, the WinMobile 6.1 update will include support for Flash in I.E.

It's about the user interface. Not so much the specs. It has, hands down, the best user interface and mobile browsing experience. The application platform will be the differentiator for the iPhone. I'm all about marrying productivity, creativity and simplicity but only Apple knows how to make that happen.

Maybe that's why people aren't standing in long lines for any Treo.

There will never be a time to buy anything from apple, especially when the press seems to think they can jam them down our throats! Iphone this Iphone that Iwould rather go without cell phone service than have one of those things hanging off my hip. Or, have their ear buds in my ears. Or, have one of their computer's in front of my face. The more excuses the press comes up with to make me purchase one of these the more it makes me sicker and sicker on how much they seem to think we have all turned into a heard of sheep.

I for one, have not forgotten the Treo750. It is precisely because it uses all Microsoft's garbage that I don't want it. No cockroachs please.

Speaking of "jam them down our throats", what do you think Microsoft is doing with it's garbage Vista?

To be honest, I really like to have an iPhone, but I won't get one. Not because Apple but because of AT&T. Being a loyal AT&T customer for over 10 years, and I am paying almost $90.00 a month on two phone, AT&T won't even give me any good deal on the monthly fee.
iPhone is great but not something I can't live without.
