They will be hard to find in the consumer lines. Here is one option from Dell: www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/winxp_inspnnb?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
The other option is this (at least with Dell): [http://www.dell.com/dellhasanswers] (you might have to click on the "Still Want XP?" tab)
The point of the second option is that Microsoft permits people with Vista Ultimate or Vista Business to "downgrade" to XP. Dell will do that for you, I believe...for a charge. But, you should be able to do it ANY laptop that comes with Vista Ultimate or Vista Business, I believe...as it is a Microsoft thing.
You might also have better luck buying from the corporate or small business channels of the major computer companies...if you are able. The enterprise/corporate world is not too fond of Vista either and I believe a lot of the manufacturers are still "respectful" of that.

ya know I've thought about that too...but I have never seen a mac os so I wouldn't know anything about it..might be a new learning experience...could try lynux also..know a chiropractor who swears by it...need something to use for my nursing stuff
You would have a bit of learning experience with a Mac. While in many ways it is similar to Windows, it has enough small differences that it can drive some people nuts. Your best bet would be to wander on down to the nearest Apple Store (or Best Buy store...they sell Macs as well, I believe) and try it out.
I suspect that more than likely, you will find going to a Mac easier to do than going to Linux...kind of depends on your tech skill level. Linux can still require a little more tech skill that Windows or the Mac OS...but it has gotten LOTS better.

Almost all of the HP Compaq laptops in the Small Business line are available with XP Pro. Go to the HP website, click on the Small Business tab and then on laptops. They are more expensive than the consumer line, but are manufactured to be more robust, and don't have the slick decorative shell that the consumber line does. They are more expensive also since they are manufactured to take more abuse.

I can't take the mac os my self before I went vista with my new laptop I tryed out a top of the line mac book that had xp on it also. I do give props on a slick interface but I was feed up with the mac in 4 days. I tryed linux once to not bad I liked it but did not have the time to lurn a whole new os. so I got my vista gateway (acer) laptop 17" screen. after 2 days of switching over programs and upgrading software I was in love plus I can add a second drive. I have learned that you do not want to put vista on a laptop that did not come with vista.
