1!

Its been several months now I have used Firefox 3 Beta on Ubuntu 8.04. On my windows PC I have Firefox 2.x.
With the latest version now being official I installed Firefox 3 in windows along side version 2.x just incase.
In
other words, I choose the custom install option when installing Firefox
3 and installed it into a separate directory on my Windows PC so that
it would not overwrite version 2.x . That way I could compare side by
side the results , differences and speed. My main concern are the
security vulnerabilities and the consumption of memory that Firefox
has. Other than that everything else about Firefox is superior to other
browsers I have tried in the past.
Below is a walkthrough reviewing my first experience with Firefox 3 Final release.

This is an unbiased look at Firefox, although I must say overall Firefox still is my browser of choice.

Yep, had been using the 2x version for the past 3 months or so and just upgraded to 3 now that it's no longer a beta version. I will probably NEVER switch back to IE 7. Hear a lot of good feedback about Opera 9. Might give that one a go in the future!

Hi PCWizKid,

Wow, that was a cool video you made. Kudos!

On the other hand, if I was reluctant to switch to FF before, now I'm really CONFUSED about it! ... please don't shoot me ... it kind of looks like Yahoo! ?:|

Hey Piyush!!

Thank You for the directoins in up-loading an image on the other thread.

BTW, That's a pretty good one . The FiredFox.LOL!

It worked , but why do we have to go through so many steps, anyways.

I did upgrade to FF3 but reverted back to FF2 because FF3 still does

not have all of their skins working in FF3.

I LIKE Color when I browse.

This brings me to OPERA .

Take a look at this thread sea shore .

Now , expand the picture by right clicking and choose "view image".

Take a GOOD look at the task bar. Do you see the O near the start button.

Well , yes I did try your beloved Opera .

When it came time to post a reply on this site, it chewed up my post

and spit it out . I have no idea what happened to it.

So, Piyush, I'm glad you are satisfied with Opera but, after spending 15 minutes

typing a reply only to have it disappear well, I'll keep using FF2 for now.

It was a good experience though. It's true that Opera opened this forum

much faster than FF2 but, not being able to post is not for me.

Maybe I had it configured improperly but, from what I can tell

every option was set up right.

Maybe another time Piyush.

hey flash
that screen shot way isnt long. I seemed long as i typed it in point form. Infact it takes around <10 seconds to get a screen ready if you go by the KB. Thats where the snipping tool comes handy.

coming back to the topic - have a look at this thread. Here read my post #48 and then #49 and finally #57. The stats speak for themselves.
I dont know why you werent able to post. It could be some other problem.

I have two teenage girls and my home is networked. Say what you want about Norton but it works. My girls call me when they have a problem and I scan their drives and the problems are fixed.

Every year I renew my subscription and with their rebates all I pay is the sales tax. Essentially free.

And I will continue to use Firefox but if it disables Norton then that is problem that Norton needs to fix or I will have to find something else. I have seen some comments regarding Norton that they may never update it to work with Firefox 3 which actually I doubt seriously. I will keep the faith that they will have an update soon to restore their Phishing and Password features [ a really nice feature I may add!]

So what do you use?

Or excuse me you are so cool that you use something free, ya bum haha B-)

I agree with you that norton protection is a very good one and there is hardly anything that goes unchecked by norton but this is awell established fact that it cripples the system to the state that it can only crawl.
It would be slightly off topic , so why dont you have a look at some of the discussions in the [privacy and security
section. You may start a new discussion on this if you wish.

And excuse me , if you are under the wrong impression that free services are nothing as compared to premium ones, then plz . Most of the linux distros are free and much secure that your XP.

Piyush, I installed Opera the other day and low behold, it has features that add ons for Firefox have yet to even cover . :^0 I am impressed. Speed Dial? VERY Nice. This could be considered a switch for me but it'll take more time for me.
