Hi TuttyFrutti and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D

Since the Discussion you previously posted this message within is active (idle for about 12 weeks), I have branched your issue into its own Discussion. Even though your situation may appear to be similar, it is always best to open your own Discussion and allow as many of our members an opportunity to review your problem. Latching onto an active Discussion could potentially either take focus away from the current issue or leave your concern on the back burner.

Please detail the exact circumstances that led to your belief that this virus has infected your network.

And you might want to also mention what OS (Windows version presumably) you are running...as well as what, if any, anti-virus/anti-malware programs you are currently running.

Thank you for the quick reply :) Currently, my users are using Windows XP SP3. We have a few drives on a PC. I've seen the "I love my peanut" virus on C drive and other drives. It appears when I right-click my drive. instead of Open, it appears "I love my peanut". Have tried scanning using AVG anti virus but found nothing.

:D Hi :

What you have is NOT a "virus", but something a lot more serious. From what I have

discovered what you have is a "cousin" to the "IMGkulot" malware AND a "compromised"

"Autorun.inf" MAY also be involved. These are beyond the detection of many, if not all,

antiVIRUS programs. More than likely using reliable antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN programs

like "SUPERAntiSpyware" and/or "MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware" would NOT uncover or

"correct" the entire problem .

Okay, I do not believe this is a true "network." From the context of your latest post, it appears you have multiple users utilizing one computer, is that correct? If that is the case then only your current hard drive(s) are affected.

Now, this statement is a bit vague, " I've seen the "I love my peanut" virus on C drive and other drives." I have some additional questions for you:

- Exactly how many drives do you have in this computer?

- If only one drive, is this drive partitioned into several smaller drives?

- Have you attempted to scan this computer under Safe Mode? If you are not sure how to access Safe Mode, follow the steps laid out within this Document {document:id=1093}.

- Exactly how long have you had this issue?

thanks for the response. Actually i have more than one drive...as in...i map the rest of the drives lettering into my servers. So when i right click on one of my drive, i noticed this peanut thingy. it happened just one week ago. I did a scan using the Avira virus scan and it seems that the I love my peanut is gone, but it is only after i scan, disconnect my drive, and reconnect it back. Now, i;m crossing my fingers hoping it doesn't come back.

Please keep us posted. In addition, I would advise do the security scan within Safe Mode as well, presuming you have not done that as of yet.
