I'm an Independent Provider nurse and I'm looking for any software that I could use to do my documentation and recordkeepping on my computer..Any nurses out there or anyone with any suggestions? I do have Microsoft Office but I'm not real knowledgeable about creating my own documents. Curious if there is anything available that would have templates to use to create assessment sheets, etc.

You can keep track of your daily schedual with something like google calender Otherwise if you have a PDA or a smart phone you can look into mobile things to help you out. Try looking through download.com's mobile section.

Actually it's more than just schedule...I need to have forms to do overall assessments, nurses notes, vital signs etc. It's hard to explain. I took some of the forms that I use with my agency now and was able to copy them but I have to hand write everything. Some of the things I can find online are in pdf form and I can't seem to figure out how to convert them into something that I can use a word processing program to fill in the information, or just click on. I was hoping to find something similar to what is being used in hospitals and doctors office but I know those programs are mega bucks. Probably will have to learn to use Microsoft Office better than what I can now and create my own stuff..

Depending on how they have the PDF files setup (i.e. whether locked or not), you could potentially use full Adobe Acrobat to turn those PDF "print" forms (i.e. forms in PDF file format purely for others to print out) into active PDF forms that you can electronically fill out. If they lock the PDF, then you will probably not be able to do that. But, if unlocked, then you can do that with Acrobat (as opposed to the Acrobat Reader). Note that Acrobat is NOT cheap, but is not too expensive (several hundred dollars). It would take some learning, but it would essentially be easier than recreating the forms in the likes of Office.
