Here's another one.

WISHLIST =

h3. PCW bot should clearly label when an article is for MAC!

That's so the rest of the world, us PC users, do not have to read it just to find out it's only meant for MAC users! :p :p :p

Even though macworld is mac based its PC World covers all modern technology. Adding something before hand also may clutter up the article title space, that is of course my own opinion.

Yeah, I've done that, start reading an article to only find out at the end it was for Mac users. I think if you look at the fine print though it does say Mac World. coastie

Another wish for the list....

WISHLIST = I would really like to see the Forum actual post count and the point count BE THE SAME!

It's much too confusing, otherwise.

Adama,

Did you notice that your post count went down again. It used to be 4,99x and not it's 4,600.

Hi number6, thanks for noticing it. I really appreciate it.

Yes, I know. I saw it go from 4,999 to 5,000 and it was going up for a couple of weeks. Somehow, a couple of days ago, the server took me back to 4,500+

I'm madder than heck about it too.

theres a difference between the forum post count and points/staus level

if it was the same, the rep stars would be pointless (sorry about the pun)

No. Sorry, but you guys don't get it.

I saw my post count go from 4,999 to 5,000!!! THAT'S HOW MANY POSTS I HAD on Friday, Nov. 7!!! I did not make that up.

And then the server pushed me back 500 posts! WTF???

Cleaning perhaps? I never heard of it though. We don't delete anything as far as I know. When the 5000 post count party was listed you didn't have 5,000 when I looked at it.

Hi Adama,

I sent you a PM, too. All set. There was a misperception. PC World shows the Veteran status applies to points, not posts. You have 5139 points and 4626 posts. Just holler if you have any more questions. You know I'm happy to help!

Thanks!
Krissy

I wish that we could customize the format of subjects for E-mail notifications, such as making the subject just be the same as the title of the discussion from which it came. Sorry if that's not clear.

Isn't that the way it is now?

I guess I don't quite understand what you want to add to the Wishlist.

No, I was thinking of removing the "PCWorld Community [What ever community] New message" that goes at the begging of each message.

Oh, I see what you're saying. I don't know, though, it's been like that since forever I think.

I do like being able to know who has posted where.

I have another wish to ad to the list.
WISHLIST =

The new members should be directed to a Noob-specific-thread at the top of the Forum's 1st page, where they can get the Forum Guidelines, What To Do, What Not To Do, etc. It could be called: NEW VISITORS TO OUR FORUM: PLEASE READ THIS FIRST.

I think that would be better than writing a gazillion Documents on Forum Guidelines, etc., and then have those Docs be buried at the bottom of PCW neverland.

ARGUMENTS PRO:

* 1 - That would eliminate the new people posting their questions to the wrong Forum.

* 2 - People would know that when their question is answered they should mark it as such, and why.

* 3 - It would make the Mods job a lot easier, specially when there's only one Mod online.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST:

None, I hope. :p

Hey Adama!!

I have a pet peeve that has been nagging me for sometime

but, am always forgetting it when I start looking at the threads that

have been answered.

It's this : when a thread is locked for whatever reason, could we get some

indication on the side of the thread on the front page to indicate that the

thread is locked instead of just having these !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/
1!.

There could be something like a red mark on the outside so we don't waste our

time. Generally, it would be about "DVD Ripping" or something to that effect.

This would help everyone avoid that thread and answer more important questions.

Hi Flashorn!

What a great idea! I was thinking about that same thing a few weeks ago... you go to answer a question only to find out that the thread has been locked!

So I absolutely agree = When a thread is locked, SHOW a padlock and key icon NEXT to the title on the main Forum page.

Good job, Flash. :D
