Windows Live Messenger - how to reduce memory usage?

Greetings. I'm running windows LM in the background when online, mainly to do video calls/voice calls.

Other than unselecting superfluous options in the program preferences, anyone have ideas for how to reduce RAM and CPU usage by LM, especially when running idel in the background?
