I have 2 (3 really now) Vista Home Prem machines. On the first, the upgrade to SP1 went w/out a hitch (an HP desktop). On the other, a Gateway laptop, it JUST wouldn't upgrade to SP1. I had to contact MS support and they sent me some links and nothing. Then a miracle happened! All of a sudden some weeks later in a near suicidal attempt to update my Gateway to SP1, it WORKED! In fact, I am posting this reply from that very same Gateway. I don't know what happened. Maybe my gateway came to its senses.
Any thoughts?

Hi JosephFuentes. Since the Discussion you previously posted this message within is active, I have branched your issue into its own Discussion. Even though your situation may appear to be similar, it is always best to open your own Discussion and allow as many of our members an opportunity to review your problem. Latching onto an active Discussion could potentially either take focus away from the current issue or leave your concern on the back burner.
Now, honestly, there is really no way for anyone to know why the Gateway system arbitrarily decided to work. We would first have to know what issues you had prior to the upgrade. I do know that SP1 would not install at all without the correction of any other issues including driver conflicts and such. That may be the reason but again, this is only speculation.
