That's pretty cool, Coastie. You have a regular PC, that's probably one of the reasons it's faster than my laptop.

Hey Adama, I haven't gotten my new faster processor I ordered yet. I get that thing in here it might speed things up a tad. Probably not much though as I'm just going from 3.0 Ghz to 3.4 Ghz. coastie

Yep, just a guesstimate on my part. As for the processor, there is a bigger Pentium D ( 360 ) that runs at 3.6 Ghz but my MOBO doesn't support it. From what I've seen, the C2D E6850 will out perform it and that runs at 3.0 Ghz. coastie

OFF TOPIC The guy who won the Huge Computer that was given away, donated it to the YUKON QUEST INTERNATIONAL DOG SLED RACE to raffle off to raise funds. He said he kept a few items, but donated most of it as he had just bought a new computer about three weeks before he won this one. coastie

OFF TOPIC TOO

Isn't that the way it goes, though?

Like when couples are trying to get pregnant, and can't. Then they go and adopt a baby, and wouldn't you know it: they get pregnant!

Whoa... that's really OFF topic! LOL :0

Are you saying the couples should have defragged and then tried again before adopting ?

Defragging my Vista Home Premium takes around 45 minutes. However, I only defrag after a Disk Cleanup operation, then I get rid of all my System Restore points except the last one. This alone relieves the drive of at least 30 GB of unneeded files. I also feel that if Vista says that my hard drive does not need a defrag, I hesitate to do one -- even though I do rarely.

Hi Piyush,

Last Sunday's Defragging only took about 50 mins. Pretty cool, huh?

I went ahead and Defragged even though the Analyzer said my disk was fine and didn't need to be Defragged.

OMG , you almost matched my times. :D
See how an operation that is always thought of consuming 5-6 hrs comes under 1 hr when done regularly.

Ha! I took about 30-35 mins the other day. I might remember to time it the next time with the new processor and all.

You'll have to tell us about the new processor. Are you planning on a >dual core< or a single core?

Ah, you didn't check my signature. I went from a Pentium D 805 ( 2.66 Ghz ) to a Pentium D 925 ( 3.0 Ghz ) and now a Pentium D 945 ( 3.4 Ghz ), all of which are dual core. It is also the biggest processor I can run in this thing, so I've hit the wall there. There is a Pentium D 360 that runs at 3.6 Ghz, but this MOBO doesn't support it. I got the processor Monday and installed it Monday night.
