[crazy4laptops]

I need an antivirus program that will run on xp pro sp1. AVG 8 does not install b/c the xp has to be sp2.
Any suggestions?

i second what Spiritwind said Avast is one top quality antivirus ive been usin it for a long time now and it detects like everything. It has active updates everyday sometimes even 2. Avast is ranked first here http://www.av-comparatives.org/

Although i also prefer avast to AVG , but according to av-comparitives , avast is no where near the top in both on-demand and pro-active tests. Infact its also rated lower than AVG there. You wont mind checking the site again.

by top i didnt mean it was best at pro active and on demand. What i mean is that Avast is the top antivirus that takes less resources and doesnt lag you even if you have like a 10+ year old computer.

Anyways , yes its good and light on resources. I have that on my 8 yr old .
