Actually my problem is with the shutdown buttons. The arrow next to the Lock button is missing. It's been gone since April and I've asked how to get it back in Microsoft newsgroups/communities, but haven't gotten an answer that works. Anybody know of one?

Thanks.

The log off button is mission or shut down? If its log off go to start>control panel>user account>click on change the way a user logs on>then tick both if there unticked.

edit: nevermind my post thought you had xp

I need to ask a few questions:

1. Is this an upgrade installation?

a. If an upgrade was this a clean installation by booting from the upgrade disc, or did you start the upgrade by starting from within XP?

2. Is this a factory installation?

3. If it is a factory installation, what are the machines make and model, NEVER POST YOUR SERIAL NUMBER ON LINE.

4. Have you tried a restore point from before you noticed the problem. (Any programs and upgrades installed after the restore point will have to be re-installed.)

5. Do you recall installing any program or specific update at this point?

6. When did you install SP1?

Answer all the questions in [~22087] post. And it would be better if you could post a screenshot of this problem. I cant believe, such a thing can happen until i see this with my eyes.

Hi KMP and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D

First, for future reference, please be as descriptive as possible in both the heading of your Discussion as well as the post itself. Providing such a generic Discussion title can lead to misinterpretation of your issue.

Now, you have some very good initial questions and suggestions, please provide some responses so we can begin troubleshooting your issue.
