Some things to keep in mind...

Make sure that ALL components/elements that will be part of the HD video chain from the BluRay drive to the TV/projector (this includes the video card, HDMI cables, BluRay drive, TV/projector, etc) are all HDCP compliant...otherwise Vista will NOT let you play commercial BluRay disks.

Realize that HDTV tuner card will NOT tune in most digital cable stuff nor ANY satelitte stuff...you will still need a cable box or satellite box for that at this time. It will handle HDTV over-the-air signals by antenna and any unscrambled HDTV signals on cable (some cable companies will send HDTV network stations such as CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, and the CW in an unscramble form that does not require a cable box). This does NOT mean you cannot hook that stuff up through the computer, but rather you will have to hook the cable/satellite box the computer and then use the cable/satellite box to select channels. It can still use the hard drive as a PVR to record shows that way, BUT it is a bit more complex and it is NOT the tuner card that is actually "tuning" in the channel...rather the cable/satellite box that is tuning the channel and then just streaming a video/audio stream to the tuner card in the computer.

If you are NOT going to use the computer for things like gaming, but rather purely as a media center for playing video content and such, then the video card might be overkill. That is not to say that it is a "bad" choice, just more graphics card for what you might need (and thus spending more money than needed). The same kind of goes for the processor and the motherboard. That bundle is really aimed at a gaming computer. Media center functions are not really heavy duty uses. The one possible area when a fast processor will help is encoding video (i.e. encoding video into a format to be burned to a DVD disk) and ripping video/audio disks. Note that if you DO go with that motherboard/processor/memory bundle, you will need to get a seperate CPU heatseak/cooler...it specifically indicates that is does NOT come with that.

You might want to get a seperate sound card. Many people with "picky" ears don't like using on-board audio that is built into motherboards, even if it is a nice 5.1 or even 7.1 setup. Some argue that you can get "feedback"/artifacts from the motherboard.

i would say if you DO go with the motherboard/processor/memory bundle, then stick with the 2 GB of RAM for now and see how it works. If you using it purely as a media center type function, then I suspect 2 GB of RAM will likely be more than enough. If you match the memory that comes with the bundle (i.e. DDR3 2000 MHz DIMMs) with another 2 GB, then you are talking about another $500 or so...and I am not sure if will really gain much benefit or not (really depends on what the computer will ultimately be used for).

First of all you'd be mad to spend that on a mobo. I would recommend the Asus Formula Striker or Maximus mobo's as alternatives. I would also recommend strying from the usual Creative offerings and going for this offering below from Asus with onboard Dolby sound. hehe I know i sound like i work for Asus or something but i like their stuff - i have a Creative Fatal1ty card in the gaming pc and the Asus offering in the media center and the difference is quite striking!!

the board is kill i built a great home dvr/gamingpc/media pc back in wow 03 then upgrade it on mid 04. I am going to be short and to the point your going to need 4gb or more for the dvr side of running the recorder and watching tv if your incoding hdtv maybe even 8gbs 1080p can be a killer when you wathing a blu-ray or playing back 1080i tv. the board is killer and you have room to add video cards. go with a stand alone audio card up front if you have the cash it makes a big diff with blu-ray player. nvidia is great I use a lot of there stuff in my builds but don't over look a board from someone else with out giving it a look. I like msi boards on my xp builds and they have via chip sets. I do like nvidia cards with nvidia cheap sets And I did have a nvidia card an avues (i know I spelled it wrong) board with a nvidia chip set.
