Is it possible for my ISP to throttle or block VOIP phone
calls? I recently read an article in PC Worlds Asian addition about ISP’s
throttling the ports Bit Torrent clients use.
After reading this article it got me thinking… For months
now after a certain time of the day my VOIP software/hardware fails to connect
or when it does the quality is extremely poor.
Either the end user can not hear me, or I can hear them but
they sound like they are under water. I have checked with some friends who use
the same ISP and they have encountered the same problems recently.
So really, want I want to know if anyone can help is if
there is any software out there that will tell me if my ISP is
throttling/blocking VOIP calls as the ISP themselves seem to be very reluctant
to answering any questions in regards to the subject. And if this is not the
case dose anyone have a explanation as to why in the past few months this
problem has started to happen?
Many thanks in advance for anyone that can help me out.
PS. When this problem does happen I always test my bandwidth
and it always comes back with decent speeds. So it cant be internet traffic,
can it???
