Son was using the computer last night and states that it was working fine and shutdown fine. This morning I started the computer and it tries to load windows showing both the e and the loading windows xp. Then it comes back to restart giving options of restart windows, restart safe mode, restart using last know usable configuration. I would have tried reformating the hard drive, other than I just realized that this computer did not come with a back up disk. I am being told that this has a hard drive partition back up.....Anyone know who to get it to activate. Or why this would have happend. I did remove the cover and check to make sure that fan was running and pushed in and out on all connections I could see...... HELP!

Hey Denzel and welcome to the forum. The hard rive is infact partitioned Local Disk (C:) & Local Disk ( H:). The "H" files are FAT32 and contains the drivers and I am presuming all the bloatware as well. After setting up the computer and at start up, you were asked to make a disk for the purpose of a fresh factory install. You should have gotten a disk labeled "eMachines Operating System disk". Normally the NonDestructive reinstallation would be ideal way to go. I have found that for whatever reason this doesn't work. The full destructive does work but only reinstalls the OS. You would then have to go to the emachines site and download and install all the drivers. As you'll notice by my signature, I too have an eMachines T5212, although I have made a couple of upgrades. Have you tried to start in safe mode? If it will start in safe mode You can try "Last Known Good Configuration". Normally I would ask for your system specs, but seeing as I have one of these things I will list them for anyone else who may check in. eMachines T5212, Intel Pentium D 805 ( 2.66 Ghz ), Windows XP MCE 2005 OS, 300w PSU, 1 Gb DDR2 RAM ( 533 Mhz), 200 Gb HDD ( PATA ), Intel D102GGC2 MOBO, ati Radeon x200 onboard chipset, and Realtec HD Audio chipset. coastie65

A reformat and reinstallation can be a nightmare on this thing. Fortunately I have my drivers on CD, so it isn't that big of a problem, just a bit time consuming. coastie

Too late. After I got home last night, I completly tore the computer apart and made sure there were no lose conncections or anything. Still same problem. Got to digging through the drawer and found the disc costie was talking about. installed and reformated..... not very simple and yes very time consuming.... but it is up and working. Thanks for all your help.... Yes I did try safe mode, last known config and all before.

Coastie, As I am sure it has already been given away, I am not very computer savvy. Can you explain what I should do to check the yellow markers.. Please and thank you in advance for taking the time to do so. 8)
