The other day I received a catalog. Ok, nothing earth shaking there as I am always getting catalogs. It was from CompUsa. Ok, I knew that TigerDiect had bought their online business way back when. I started leafing through the catalog and noticed that it said "the all new CompUsa" and "15 All New CompUsa Stores Now Open ". I don't know where they are. It said it was "A Systemax Company". After some digging, I found out that TigerDirect is listed on the NYSE under SYX ( Systemax). CompUsa's address is listed in Naperville Ill. while TigerDirect's is in Miami Fla. Bottom line is TigerDirect and CompUsa is under the same roof. coastie65

OMG, you gotta be kidding! CompUSA is back???

I wonder if they have changed their crappy ways of dealing with customers.

Just as long as no one screws with Newegg.

I used to love going to CompUSA. I don't know if I'll be going back, after finding out how they treated their emplyees.

Remember that loooong thread we had going on, when they announced that they were closing?

Unfortunately the customs regulations to get anything into Canada are complex because of the bi-lingual situation. That is why most have set up Canadian franchises to handle this. Newegg just has not seen fit to do this yet. I think they are missing out, and as a result our Canandian cousins are also missing out.

Things in Canada are way more expensive than here, in the States. I wonder why that is...?

Those prices are in Canadian Dollars, although I think the rate of exchange is about equal now. I haven't checked lately though. I saw an 80 Gb PS3 at WalMart up there for $549 and change, but that was Canadian Dollars. That may have translated to $499.99 USD. coastie
