Hi All,

I'm not very good with computers but I believe I've got a virus running
loose, yesterday my computer was working fine but my later on in the evening I
was unable to browse websites using EI/Firefox.

I contacted my internet provider and went through all the steps with them
but they could not figure out why, they said I was connected and they could
ping me.

I'm able to connect to the internet using MSN, I can send/receive emails with
Outlook, I also have a p2p software called Shareaza which has a built in web browsers
which I'm able to go online and browse with.

I tried reinstalling EI 7 and the same issue occurs. I can open my homepage
yahoo.com but as soon as I click any other link it does nothing, at the bottom
of the browser it says “Waiting….” But nothing happens!

I'm running Norton Antivirus/Internet Security, I've ran a scan with no
results I’m disabled my firewall and nothing, I’ve check Norton’s history
activity and it says setup1.exe has changed settings to internet explore
something about Zone 3 not exactly sure what it is, the time stamp is just
about the time when I noticed it acting up.

it sounds like you've picked up a virus or trojan--try this first--do a search for 'setup1.exe'--assuming that you find it--change the .exe to .bad--reboot and see if things work--if they do--then find the 'setup.bad' file and delete it--then restart in safe mode and run your antivirus program to try to remove what the rogue file did--you can also try a 'system restore' to a time before you experienced the problem--(I am assuming that you are running XP) the process may be similar with Vista--but I do not know Vista...good luck

Real Shareaza has no built-in browser. Probably you was tricked by iMesh/Music Labs company, they stole wwwdot]shareaza[dot]com site from Shareaza Development Team at Dec 2007 and now destribute fake ShareazaV4 (its modified iMesh).

Real Shareaza site is [Shareaza

Tman, Thanks for the help, I was able to located the .exe file but the issue
continued to occur, Norton was unable to pick up any issue and now I’m
questioning the reliability of this software, I have the latest Norton and
up-to-date on my virus definitions.

After a few hours of trying multiple free antivirus/Trojan software’s I was
able to remove the Trojan using a software called Trojan Removal, I’m back and
running {font:Wingdings}J{font}.

Ryoohki, you are correct my mistake, Ares is the one with the built in
Browser.

Hey daze!!

OK, if we are infected with a Rogue program , what we need to do
is get rid of this program. A system restore will only restore the
infection along with the rest of the OS. So, if you are willing, PLZ.
go to MalwareBytes at the following address and download both of these security
programs:

RogueRemover: http://www.malwareby...ogueremover.php .

and

MalwarebytesAntiMalware :http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php .

IF , for any reason you cannot access the site of Malwarebytes.org
and if you have access to another computer, then download the programs
and then Drag and Drop on to a USB Drive (thumb drive).Plug the USB Drive
in one of your USB Ports and
Transfer the Antispyware Programs to your PC using the same method
of Drag and Drop.

Once downloaded , install and then UP_DATE then
run RogueRemover first. This should only take about
a minute. PLZ delete whatever rogue program(s) it finds. You will probably
loose Shareaza if it's the V4 as this is laiden with infections.

Next , open and install MalwarebytesAntiMalware. Again UP_DATE before
using. Once the up-date is complete , run a FULL scan of your PC .
Once the scan is finished , If the security program finds anything , it will
ask you to delete what it found. PLZ. delete and reboot.

Post back with your findings.
