This OS really has me hopping mad as MS has promised that every OS since the DOS 2.1 on (that I have owned) has told me that it would be faster better more secure and all of the other tripe that they have said since was some what true upto and including DOS 6.22 (I sitll have the disks) has been some what true. But the advent of the windows OS to keep up with the MAC Apple line, has been garabage, IE: not true. Each one has been plagued with issues of incompatabilites and other security issues to the point of making it costly for businesses to upgrade and move forward with MS Operating Systems. I am for one willing at this point to change even if it costs me more now. I have switched my office suites to OpenOffice.org and only have a couple of issues. But the cost factors have gone down X fold and they look and work just fine. My next move will be to an Apple / Mac because the Mac OS that I see a friend use that is 5+ years old looks better and runs on an old system that she has just fine, Looks like Vista and it is an OLD system and the upgrades that she had to do were minimal, to keep one the only data base pgm work on the newer upgrade. And cheep.
In conclusion MicroSoft, you really need to listen to the people that buy your OS, and if you don't their will be Many More like ME. Good by MS Vista it needs to go the way of ME, take your hit and let XP continue for now it will cost you less in the long run. It just might keep some customers. I for one do not need all of what you are trying to give me, DEAL WITH IT........

Thanks for the linux tip as it is one of the systems that I am looking at, as I am using Open Office Suite for most of my record keeping. My only cavet is that the software that I use does not recognize it yet and in most cases does not recognize apple either, a Sad fact. I have also built computers since the early 80's and that is an easy process, but the same mechanizm is not availible for laptops, and I find using laptops now days is a much better fit for me. Many thanks for the input.

Some people are NEVER satisfied! I have Vista Home Premium SP-1 and it works like a charm. It's more solid than any OS before it and I can't lock it up. What am I doing wrong? I also have 3 Windows ME systems, and they too are very solid. My 2 XP systems are fine too.
I don't get all the Vista trashing. Perhaps it's a result of a personality disorder -- got to trash another object to feel good about oneself. In any case, I've read where Vista is too "bloated" while others say it doesn't go "far enough" in some of its features. This is too weird.
No doubt Windows 7 will have its legions of detractors too -- with the same old names. For me, Vista is just fine, it has never failed me, and I hope Microsoft continues its OS progressions knowing that there are many of us who appreciate their software, if not their prices and activation schemes.

Yes, ernliz, there are those. And some of the complaints are about the re-arranging the menus in the Control Panel, yet if they click on classic it looks just like and is arranged just like Windows 2000.
And I am sure they will gripe about Windows 7 when it comes out, they gripped about XP as well and I fell for it, not upgrading from 98 to XP until 2004. However, as soon as I received my HP provided upgrade to Vista I had to try it. Of course the naysayers were out in full force already and I was ready to hate it. One thing I did though, was buy the book, so I was ready to be able to use it. I now have Vista Home Premium on three machines and love it.
I think there have been enough supporters now that I have noticed a shift, they are no longer blasting Vista in the home market, they are now saying it is no good in corporate environs. Oh, well, that will change too.
