I'll try not to. After all these years, I'm comfortable in my skin, I have friends who call me during the day, there are of course the dogs to take care of, questions on the community to respond to, friends in the community to respond to, and a very lengthy list of projects to take care of to keep me busy.

And such lists NEVER, EVER get shorter...even though my lists are not "honey do" lists (not married).

Those lists never seem to get any shorter. In fact, it seems when you clear one item, two more appear, or at least around here it does. As far as the dog goes, he is worst than a kid when it comes to running in and out of the house. coastie

Smax - that is why my list is a To Do List, no Honey available.

Rtfire - yes, the dogs seem to know when I am around, and they have to go out several times to see if they have finally chased away those pesky elephants that seem to want to come around. They have to go and give a few barks just in case one wants to sneak back. Then big boy has to go out and add his voice to the chorus. Or would, but when the goes out the Schnauzers come racing back. They seem to think he wants to eat them.

Coastie - it gets worse when its raining out and the Schnauzers come back in with 16 furry muddy paws.

That reminds me of a funny dog story. This goes back about 10 years, and my sister was visiting. She had brought her three Schnauzers, (I only had two at that time). I had a red female Doberman named Cindy. It was raining lightly outside and they had gone out front, I had a small fenced in area in front, and the dogs had all been put outside. As my sister let each one into the small foyer, she wiped each dogs paws. Finally Cindy was approached, and my sister picked up a paw to wipe it, CIndy pulled the paw back, and went back down the steps into the rain and sat with her back in the furthest corner and glared at us. There she sat, in the rain, saying "You ain't messing with my paws."

Hey rg, Andy doesn't like anyone messing with his feet either.....period. If I want to cut his nails, I have to dope him, as much as I hate that. Even then it is a tussle. coastie

Messing with paws, you should try grooming a Schnauzer and trimming the hair off the paws, and other certain delicate parts of the boys. I have one that is very, very hyper. I used to travel with a bottle of tranquilizers for him.

Another funny Cindy story. I was over visiting my sister this time, and I had taken her and my two Schnauzers along. For some reason we could never understand she had worked herself into a hyper anxiety state and was just pacing back and forth rapidly in the living room. She would not lay down or even sit or stop. I went and got one of those pills and got her to take it. In about 15 minutes, she was calm, very calm, she was almost staggering when she walked and was glaring at me. She knew!

But, I never had another episode like that with her.

rg Bear hates having his paws done So we got smart sent him for a wash and wax and a nail job the bill was going to be 60 bucks being he was only 84 lbs with fur. Well there they washed him the maxed (shaved him) and started on his niels at that point he very nicely as not to leave a make held the person with the clipers hand till they put them down. In return they doped him did the nails and hit us with a bill for 128 bucks I asked my the removed his muzel. The lady at the desk said " he was being so nice and kind, we thought it was okay." The last two time he need his nails done I just did and gave him a small bit of stake of the grill before hand, he even put his paw up for me.

Bribery works every time.

This seems to have turned into Doggie Thread #3, but that's okay. Another dog story - this on my youngest Schnauzer, Jiggs. He is from the only litter my female ever had, and after the others were all sponken for and sold, he was the last one. Also in my opinion the cutest one so I dedided to keep him.

A friend of mine from Virginia was coming down to help me re-do my Sisters back deck and deck roof. He came down with his truck and trailer which we loaded up and Jiggs just took all kinds of exception to his being here. We decided that since we were taking him with us along with his mom, we would take my truck as he would be more accustomed to it than to the other. On the trip over, he repeatedly voiced his displeasure at my friend being there. We get to Texas, and on the first morning after all the dogs had gone outside and back in he was still growling at my friend. It was not a loud or vicious growl, just one of those low "I don't like you" growls.

My sister had gotten a sample box of Honey Nut Cherios so she handed it to Wayne and told him to give some to Jiggs. Wayne tossed a few on the floor in front of Wayne and Jiggs did his vacuum cleaner immitation. He lowered the growls to where you could barely hear it. Wayne gave him a few more and the growling stopped. Then Wayne held down his hand with a few and Jiggs ate them out of his hand. Friends for Life! From then on, Jiggs was known as the dog with no principles and even wound up sitting in Waynes lap on occassion (when he had some cherios). Dogs - they'll do anything for a sweet treat.
