I"m back....I ran the Norton Removal Tool and later discovered I couldn't access the internet. I have DSL and after going through some testing with Verizon they figured maybe the modem was bad because it couldn't communicate with the pc. They sent a new one which didn't work eithr, so I figured it must be the pc. Some other weird things were going on too, and when I went to system restore all my set points were gone. I worked back from there and the only solution was to do a whole system recovery. After I did that everything is working fine. I blame the Norton tool for messing things up, but I could be wrong. Anyway, my original problem doesn't exist any more, my pc is clean and I have the 'fun' of setting it back up. Fortunately I backed up most of my important info.
