I have a history of asking questions here in which people get stumped, let's hope I buck that trend here Posted Image

I am running WXP. I have a folder, which I could open and view normally, that I did a cut and paste function to put it into a different folder. Now, I cannot view, delete, rename, etc etc or do anything to that folder. I have tried changing it's read only status as well. It's contents are not important, so now I just want to get rid of it.

The error message when I try to delete is this: Cannot delete (name of folder): Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I have already tried a couple utilities, PurgeIE Delete Invalid File, as well as Cedrick Collomb's free Unlocker. The dang folder won't budge!!!

Game on!

Try deleting the folder while in Safe Mode. I have had this same issue a couple of times where I have had to use the unlocker in Safe Mode to get the job done.

Safe Mode did not seem to make a difference. But, during the process, I upgraded to the latest version of unlocker and that version finally worked. Thanks webgomer!

Hey mandude!!

The reason you were not able to delete this folder is because

it was Occupied. When you transfered the contents of this folder

to another folder it became Occupied by the other folder. In order to

avoid this situation you should have either Copy ,Paste the contents,

which then would have available for deleting,

or Move the whole folder and integrate it in the new one.

No, not in this situation. The folder I was not able to delete was the new one.
