OK, You were doing it the right way up and until you say that
you RIGHT CLICK on Office. Now, i don't know what or
where you are right clicking. But. my instructions say that
once the UAC are off "you go back to Control Panel - then
Programs and Features. Let the list build ,THEN you
Click on the Office Student 2007 to highlight ans mouse over to
the Uninstall / Change option at the top of the pop-up and CLICK
ON THAT.
OK, try it THAT way again, and report your findings.
REMEMBER , NO RIGHT CLICKING ON THE OFFICE ICON.
rg , I also have a notebook from HP and I also had the trial version.
Mine Uninstalled with no problems by doing it the exact way
I just described.

Yes, I did everything that you recommended. When going to Uninstall Programs didn't work I then went to Revo, again, like you recommended.
Here's a copy of what I posted before:
UAC IS STILL OFF, so right-clicked on Office 2007, which gave me a few options. I clicked on Uninstall, then chose the first option like you suggested, Built-In - run only the applications's uninstaller without any additional scanning. Gave the ok for permission to uninstall, and it finished in no time at all. I thought hmmm that was too fast.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was talking about Revo. It's the only way to get the option you suggested, the Built-in...... thing.
When you go to Uninstall >Programs and you right-click on a program you want to uninstall, you get a tiny menu with two options, the top one is Uninstall. That's what MPH suggested yesterday and I tried it and it didn't work either.
So, I did everything you told me to do TO A T.

OK, do as both Spirit and rg recommend. I have used also to get
some of the crap although there is not allot. If you do , UNCHECK MARK
EVERYTHING and then ONLY check mark Office Student 2007.
OK, let me have my Dinner and I will walk you through it.
OR maybe one of the members could walk you through the
initial boxes and where to ckeck mark.

Well, hold on to your bootstraps, Boys! I actually downloaded PCDecrapifier all on my own! :p
I went to the website that RGreen provided the link to, and downloaded it from there. I printed as much info as I could from the website, so I had something to go by. Saved it, and then ran it.
Like Flashorn said, uncheck every thing that's marked and check only MSFT Office and Student 2007. So I did exactly that, and only checked Office 2007, then clicked on next.
It started the uninstall. I got a tiny window at the top left-hand side of my desktop, saying that it was uninstalling. Then the uninstall wizard came up and asked if there were other things I wanted to manually uninstall. I said no, and closed the thing. This Snip shows that the process is complete.
Went back to Control Panel > Uninstall Program to see if the program was gone, but it isn't!!! How 'bout that!?
I thought maybe I need to restart/reboot for it to take effect. I restarted my computer. Back to Control Panel I went... Nope... program is still there.
I went back to PCDecrapifier and ran it one more time. It did all of the things I already mentioned. I went back to Contro Panel... still there.
Next, I went to Start Menu and typed Microsoft Office and 4 programs showed up: MSFT Office Word 2007; MSFT Office 2007 Language Settings; MSFT Office Excel 2007 and MSFT Office Powerpoint 2007.
I clicked on the first one, and lo and behold, MSFT Office Home and Student 2007 opened up in all its infamous glory. !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

Now, I think this thing is really making fun of me! LOL X-( :p

Hi RGreen,
When I first ran PCDecrapifier to do the uninstall, it asked me if it was uninstalling from a new computer, and gave me two options: Yes or No. I had to check no, since I've had my laptop for a year.
Maybe, like you said, since it was a factory install, I need to do the uninstall as if it was a brand new computer???
What do you guys think?

Did you change your post? I could have sworn that you were asking me if I had downloaded MyUninstaller....?
Anyway, to answer that post first:
I checked SnapFiles and PCWorld Downloads and guess what? MyUninstaller is not compatible with Vista. I took 2 Snips to show you.
Here's SnapFiles:
And here's PCWorld:
Now to answer your 2nd post. When you ask if MSFT Office is in Program files -- do you mean does it appear in the Uninstall Program list? If that what you're referring to, then the answer is Yes. After all the stuff I've down to uninstall it, it's still there.

Well, I'm baffled . I have one more suggestion and I think this is
what LIL was asking as well.
GO to Start , Then double click on Computer. Once that window comes up with
your Drives showing C: and D: well' not Your Drives ,the notebook's drives.LOL!
Double click again on the C: Drive . There will be another or different window
appearing. In that window you will see 6 or 8 folders. One will say
"Program Files" . Double click on that folder. In that folder all of your programs
should be available. Scroll to Microsoft Office Student 2007.
Now , again , double click on that folder. In that folder you will have a whole bunch
of files. Look if you can find a "Uninstall File' . It might not be quite worded like that .
It might be Unist000, or Uninstall , or uninst. But with no extentions like .dat.
If you should find one and it says Application as the type of file then double click to start the process.
This is a LONG SHOT but, worth a try.

I was looking for a way to uninstall the trial and landed
on the MS Office Online site . There you have a FAQ sheet
and wouldn't you know it, How to Uninstall the Trial Version.
Here are the instructions as per MS :
|
|javascript:onclick=ShowHide('faqa16','faqBulletImage16');] |
|
[|javascript:onclick=ShowHide('faqa17','faqBulletI[
|javascript:onclick=ShowHide('faqa17','faqBulletImage17');]
the software. However, if you choose to purchase another Microsoft
Office 2007 suite or program then it is recommended to uninstall the
trial software prior to loading the software. To uninstall the trial,
you should follow these steps:
# To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
# Click Change or Remove Programs.
# Scroll down until you find Microsoft Office 2007. Please note that there may be nothing in the Change or Remove Programs dialog box that indicates that the program is a trial.
# Click Microsoft Office 2007 and then click Remove, the program will then run through the uninstall process.
What I did and what they do is a little different as in they have you click on the
"Change or Remove Programs" first , and Then click on the Office Student 2007.
I did it the other way around clicking on the Office first and then on the
"Change or Remove Programs".
So, I certainly hope this will settle it once and for all.
G'Night Adama!

Below is a snip of that same inquiry on my machine.

This may indicate a corrupted installation, possibly from all the attempts to uninstall it.
BTW - The community software is at it again. I attempted to use another machine, one I have not used on the internet for a while, and the cookies had been erased. The community would not let me sign on, I would click on sign on and it just sat there. If it is still doing it in the morning, I will send K a PM.

Last night I was getting ready to log off when I checked my email one last time and got your em notif. So I printed it and tried your suggestions, then I had to stop.
Right off the bat I gotta tell you, the link with instructions from MSFT you provided is for Windows XP only, because Vista does not have the Add & Remove Programs. Vista's is called Programs. Then when the page opens, you cannot click on Uninstall unless you click on the program you want to delete first. So, there you have it.
Next, I followed the other suggestions for the Program Files. I did ok until I got to the part where you say double click on that folder and you'll find a whole bunch of files. There was no Uninstall File there, nor the other ones you mentioned!
Again, I had to stop because I had come to the end of the line. That's when I came back here to tell you all about it, but couldn't log in. No matter how nor where I tried to get in. I wasn't able to log in. So I just gave up and turned everything off.
I do have good news, though. Ready???
PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED ! ! ! !
Out of desperation, I called an IT friend of mine and she came in with remote assistance. She checked everything that I had done in the past week, we followed all the steps, including using Revo again with UAC turned off (except we didn't use PC Decrapifier.) And, she said that I had done all the right things.
Then she installed a MSFT tool that gave her other options, she highlighted all of the MSFT Office Home & Student 2007 programs that I wanted to remove. We got this scary black screen with lots of stuff scrolling by really fast, and then it was all done! ! !
She was very thorough and patient. The whole thing took about 45 minutes. Office 2007 and all its other programs were completely removed, even though, for some reason, the name still appears in the Programs >Uninstall list. IT. IS. NOT. THERE.

If you read my last couple of posts you know that I was finally able to solve this mystery. It took several days, and we tried a lot of different things, some worked and some didn't. But in the process we - well, mainly I - learned a lot. And now, MSFT Office Home & Student 2007 has said its last goodbyes to the place it called home in my computer!
So I wanted to give my heartfelt THANK YOUs to TFF, Flashorn, Lilixkid, MPH, SpiritWind and RGreen.
I don't know what I would do without you guys. U R T B !

OK, I'm real glad that it worked out. Only one thing
you left out? You'll Hafta call your friend back and ask her
WHAT tool she used. The way you described it , it seems to be
some kind of Command. So, for all of our sake , PLZ get this IT
person to divulge her secret so we too, can use this tool. Who
knows , we might even be able to help you out in the future
with it, not to mention ourselves. Think you could do that
for us?/? EH!

I did get the info for you guys. I had to write it down really fast, because she's a little bit of Type A personality, fast talker.
I'll post it here for you tomorrow. I've been trying to get in this thread for a while to let you know, but my pointer kept freezing up, and I finally had to turn power off.
One word of caution though, she did say that was to be used ONLY AS AN EMERGENCY, WHEN ALL OTHER AVENUES HAVE BEEN EXPLORED. With emphasis on EMERGENCY ONLY.
G'night.
