If it left traces in the Uninstall or Change Program listing, then it is a brute force routine. It also sounds from your description that it sets up the action and then either re-boots and removes it during the boot, or goes into a DOS window. And, yes the IT types have bigger tool boxes than us peons.

Hey sweetie!!

OK, I'm real glad that it worked out. Only one thing

you left out? You'll Hafta call your friend back and ask her

WHAT tool she used. The way you described it , it seems to be

some kind of Command. So, for all of our sake , PLZ get this IT

person to divulge her secret so we too, can use this tool. Who

knows , we might even be able to help you out in the future

with it, not to mention ourselves. Think you could do that

for us?/? EH!

Hi again Flashorn,

Well I told you I'd be back with the info and Here I Am!

First of all - the IT person told me yesterday that this tool is to be used ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OTHER RESOURCES - ONLY AS A LAST RESORT - ONLY AS AN EMERGENCY. So, consider yourself warned.

Second, please read the MSFT Help and Support page I found for you. It talks about the Windows CleanUp Utility Tool. Here's the link so you can check it out for yourself. support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

So here goes: It's an Installer Tool that she used. She called it Windows CleanUp Utility Tool. It's a quick install, and when you install it, the icon will appear on your desktop with the letters MSICUU2. You'll find the link for the download in the link I provided above.

You double click on it to run it. You'll get a small window where a bunch of files/names will show up. Scroll down until you find the troublesome file, then select/highlight the file you want to delete. Then press remove. You'll be asked if you really want to do this. Select continue and when prompted click OK.

Wait a few moments. Then a larger, black window will show up with lots of stuff scrolling by really fast. It's part of the process and cannot be stopped.

It deleted 11 MSFT Office Home & Student 2007 programs! ! Then she went ahead and deleted the MSFT Office Assistant too.

That's it, guys! I wouldn't have known how to do that, so I was really grateful for her help.
